"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

Same here, whitewave. It's been raining on and off and although it is now sunny, I suspect that as soon as I put my coat and shoes on, it will rain again. And, of course, I am immersed in The Song of Achilles.

Today is one of those can't get motivated days. I think the weather which is dismal has something to do with it, but really haven't achieved anything yet today can't even be bothered to cook dinner might get a takeaway.

crimson I lived in Weaste when I was first married, but not for long thank goodness!

Glad you got the leak sussed smile

crimson Mon 01-Oct-12 14:23:53

I lived in Eccles smile. Spotted that water was coming from the radiator in the bathroom, so that [I hope] is the source of the leak into the kitchen. Actually became the happiest person on the planet when I saw that leak, because at least I knew where it was coming from. Insurance company won't say that they can cover me for this [accidental damage doesn't seem to cover accidents] but the heating company will and, if they don't I do have legal cover with my insurers so I can sue them. Now going back to work. Phew...

Ella46 Mon 01-Oct-12 13:49:56

crimson I share your fear of a leak, nothing worse! flowers

anno I used to live in Didsbury from the age of 9 until 18! It has changed such a lot, but I had many happy times there.

Still in lots of pain with my back today, seeing the chiropractor later, and ironically my toe is better than it's been since I had the pins put in! I can't believe it!
Also my migraines have halved in number for the last two months, I don't know what is going on in my body but maybe I'm healing myself! confused

.....water now on kitchen ceiling...[the kitchen that I've just had redecorated]; engineer here, though....

glassortwo Mon 01-Oct-12 12:51:52

anno I got the same surprise last week on opening the door to three gorgeous firemen, good job nellie wasnt here wink

crimson hope you got sorted out.

annodomini Mon 01-Oct-12 12:46:11

I hope the engineers have arrived crimson. It's frustrating waiting for these people to turn up, though today I've had a nice surprise - an unexpected call from the Fire Service offering me free smoke alarms - one to replace the old one and another upstairs where I didn't have one. All done in a few minutes, no hassle. Sorry, grans; disappointingly, they weren't your big hunky firemen - one verging on retirement and the other just a youngster, a bit weedy.

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 22:51:41

of course it is....now I've got to tidy the house up a bit because of the engineers coming out tomorrow; don't want any undies floating round the bathroom [I've been having a slob weekend thus far]. Maybe they'll put a new washer on the tap in the bathroom that's got a pair of tights over it to stop people using it as it drips and I'm trying sad to save water....[goes away humming 'always look on the bright side of life tedum tedum tedum tedum'

Ana Sun 30-Sept-12 22:28:43

Think it's 'tie me kangaroo down...' crimson - just to add to your Eeyore mood! grin

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 22:11:19

Last time I'm going to feel happy. Much prefer my usual Eeyore mode; it's safer.

Marelli Sun 30-Sept-12 22:09:04

Worse things happen at sea, crimson! You'll soon be sorted again. smile

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 21:58:05

Goes away humming 'Lay me kangaroo down, sport, lay me kangaroo down...'

Ana Sun 30-Sept-12 21:47:12

grin crimson - at least you haven't lost your sense of humour!

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 21:45:32

worriong; that's Australian for worrying I think. I go aboriginal in times of crisis.

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 21:40:31

Emergency engineer has just talked me through how to turn everything off! I'd just been sealing off the door to the loft so I could put the heating on and not lose heat going up into the roof. Tried to turn the water off at the meter in the road [my worst nightmare since I had a water meter..a leak! the reason why I put off having a water meter for years sad] but not sure what I've done. My knees don't work these days so kneeling in the road is not good. The good news is that the only room I haven't redecorated recently is the hall and landing so they will probably pay someone to come out and do it wink. Not sure what my house insurance covers me for either. Strangely enough I was only talking to a colleague at work ysterday and I said that, because all my recent little problems had resolved themselves and I was feeling really chilled out and happy I was worried that something would go wrong and, blow me [for want of a better word, IT HAS! I'm going to be really smelly at work tomorrow as well, cause it was bath night....If this had've happened this time last year I would have been in Paris as well. And there was me worriong about flooding. I should've looked upwards instead.

Marelli Sun 30-Sept-12 21:32:28

crimson would have to pay an excess though, jeni. The company will have to sort it - immediately!

jeni Sun 30-Sept-12 21:24:54

Insurance company!

Marelli Sun 30-Sept-12 21:15:38

Oh no, crimson! Have you got a number you can phone - the company that fitted your heating will have some sort of responsibility, surely?

Ana Sun 30-Sept-12 21:12:03

crimson - how awful! Something's gone terribly wrong...so sorry.

crimson Sun 30-Sept-12 21:10:12

I don't believe it; after all the money I spent having my central heating done I've got water coming through the landing ceiling..and I've just had the house redecorated.

Marelli Sun 30-Sept-12 19:34:12

That would've been like finding treasure, glass! Imagine! I've done very little today....been on here a lot, though hmm!
Littlenellie, I've been going through this thread trying to find out how your first week at your new job went - (I've been away all week). Can't find anything, though. it must've been on the old thread. How did it go? smile
