I've read in the paper today that Liam Neeson (who is now 60) says that 60 is the new 40. Therefore I am 46!!! Huarrah. grin

Any others into ZZTop and Led Zeppelin? I'm determined my GD is going to grow up appreciating great music!

I too missed the Bob Marley film but noted that the DVD is £13. I might ask one of my family to consider it as a present for me (to keep me quiet and out of their lives)

Daman; have you seen the new film about Bob Marley? I missed it when it was at our cinema but it's supposed to be very good.

I liked Victor Sylvester and Vera Lynne, and I don't give a toss whether or not my trousers are fashionable - I just want them to be long enough to be able to tuck them into my thick socks when I am walking. Flapping trousers can be a hazard when walking in difficult terrain.
I am 72 and look it, but I am fitter than I was at 40.

Daman Sat 06-Oct-12 23:39:19

I was in 'Fopp' today happily browsing the Bob Marley and the Eric Clapton discs. Not so 'young' you might say, but at least it was not Victor Sylvester or Vera Lynne.
I am 76. (and male). We are the age we choose for ourselves.

Hi Anne I'm a year ahead of you born in march 1953 the last report of when I can get my pension is when I'm 62 years and 11 months. If I was a year younger it would have been 65 years and 5 months.
Due you still get bus passes at 60 or have that also changed.

anneandgraham Sat 06-Oct-12 22:31:48

well if any other ladies on here born in 1954 then join my boat I have to wait until about 66 I think for pension and any other perks, my husband is 10 years older than me so he has his state pension now but I am not worrying about it just enjoy each day!!

crimson Sat 06-Oct-12 22:27:07

..and I've got to wait 20 years for my bus pass? Not that I'm getting paranoid about it...[me; paranoid shock]

jeni Sat 06-Oct-12 22:26:18

Well. You're fit enough!

crimson Sat 06-Oct-12 22:25:45

Does that mean I've now got to work for another 20 years?

goldengirl Sat 06-Oct-12 22:07:07

janeainsworth I wear them with flat shoes and no socks usually but this time of year I wear them with boots - and again no socks unless it is cold. I wear popsocks with proper trousers though and in winter socks with jeans and trainers - not particularly elegant but my jeans are long enough to cover; it's sitting down that's the problem the legs go up and reveal white legs - ugh!

absentgrana Sat 06-Oct-12 12:00:40

62? 63? They're just numbers janeainsworth. Who cares?

janeainsworth Sat 06-Oct-12 11:37:22

Just remembered I'm 63confused

janeainsworth Sat 06-Oct-12 11:35:23

The nice thing about being 62 and not 42 is that I don't have to go to work....... grin
Can I ask the advice of any jegging wearers here - do you wear them with flat shoes and no socks? I find that uncomfortable and don't like popsocks either.

Nanadogsbody Fri 05-Oct-12 23:06:56

'Janthea* no way am I ever wearing pop socks and certainly not in tan. Skinny jeggins are fine worn short, as are capri pants ...that's a good look providing your size 10 or less or tall like Marelli
It was bez who said she didn't like them short with short boots.

Marelli Fri 05-Oct-12 15:40:03

Thud, thud, thud.....grin

soop Fri 05-Oct-12 15:17:49

grin Go for it, twinkle toes...

Marelli Fri 05-Oct-12 15:06:58

soop! That's very kind of you - but I was always known as a 'baby elephant' when I was young and then I grew up to be 5'10"....a bit big for a ballerina! grin I have shrunk to 5'8" though, so maybe I'll to a quick entre-chat through to put the kettle on, just to see.....no - the only entre-chat is Daisy through the cat-flap! grin

janthea Fri 05-Oct-12 14:31:37

Nanadogsbody If you wear a pair of tan pop socks, they don't look too bad. Though like you I dislike short jeggings with short boots. They look lovely with pumps, heels or long boots. smile

NfkDumpling Fri 05-Oct-12 14:02:34

Socks with Capri pants can only be worn by skinny teenagers with Docs and spiky dyed hair.

Bez Fri 05-Oct-12 13:44:35

But if you look at some of the new skinny jegging pants they are short - I don't like them short above the boots - did manage to find a pair which were long so will fit into the boot tops OK. Socks with Capri pants is not a good look either.

Nanadogsbody Fri 05-Oct-12 13:35:46

ella I was walking behind a woman in town today with her black trousers flapping somewhere around the top if her ankle bone and an expanse of fish-belly white flesh between there and the top of her shoes.
Not a good look shock

absentgrana Fri 05-Oct-12 13:29:40

Of course, life only began at 40 if you'd been a (Vestal) virgin until then. hmm
