Brunette squirrels!

Yes, they've been around in Europe for ages, but they're now being seen in the UK too.

We used to see them when we were camping in Europe in student days. I'd forgotten about them, though.

I saw black ones in Bavaria, then discovered they were pine martens.

They are black in this part of Italy too. They are the same species as reds according to an article on the internet!

The brown ones I saw in Spain were, I understand, the same genetically, as our reds. The intruder is the grey and, now, its sub-species, the black.

They are almost black in this part of France.
