Gransnet How did you hear about it?

I joined Mumsnet nearly six years ago, when DD1 was pregnant with DGS1, to learn about current baby products and practises, as my knowledge was nearly 40 years out of date. I was about to give up on Mumsnet - the gratuitous swearing really annoyed me - when the launch of Gransnet was announced and I came over from the dark side.

DD suggested I try it as I was just learning how to use a computer. Still am. I don't know of any friends or family who use it.

I read it in a paper too, ella. She wrote anarticle about it and said she was disappointed that there were not more postings about Grandchildren and too much other chat, I quite liked the sound of it and joined immediately. Ms journalist, are you still out there and are you enjoying it more?

As a self-confessed lurker I heard about Gransnet at the last Budget when I read quotes from a representative of the site pointing out the anger site members felt at how Osborne's measures would affect them.
I tend not to be active on the forum as I find the majority of views expressed are fairly ingrained. I still read them and find the opinions on all sides of an arguement very interesting.

It isn't any of us that have met up or we would know who she is.
I read about Gransnet on BT Yahoo and joined within days of it starting, I asked DH "do you think I should" ? I think he may now be regretting saying yes because jobs don't get done until I have read the latest happenings.

I'd read about it in a newspaper. It was an article by Polly Toynbee, who said that she'd very likely join the forum.....come on then - who are you Polly? Out with it!!

I heard about Mumsnet first and told my dd, and I think I must have read it in the Daily Mail paper.

I think I heard about Gransnet in the press, but can't really remember. Anyway, I thought it sounded like a good idea - didn't realise then how good it would turn out to be!

Geraldine Gransnet says on the current thread Gransnet Census, that there are " many, many thousands of members".

From Breakfast TV in May 2011 just after the launch (on 5 May). There were 7,000 Gransnetters according to GNHQ in the summer of 2011 and although some may have dropped out – it's difficult to tell with all the name changing that goes on – lots more will have joined.

A small article in the Sunday Times - pointed out to me by the late Mr.G. I bet he regretted doing that - he used to come up behind me when I was on GN and say 'Hrrrmph, not on that granny net thing again?'
I think there are many more than 7000 - I think it was that amount a year ago so probably 2x or even 3x and yes, where are they all?

I read of the launch on my BT home page news. I had never joined anything on line before, but soon got hooked.

NanaDB they probably can't get a word in edgeways over the rest of us "addicts" .

I think I found it by accident whilst surfing when I first heard DD was pregnant.

I think I read about it in the papers and was intrigued to see what it was about! I am not disappointed.

Probably on Today, BBC4.

DD2 told me about; think she'd heard about it on Mumsnet.
