How has Gransnet changed you?

So well done to Gransnet for making this past nearly 18mths so enjoyable,I have made loads of new friends and have learnt to look at other people's opinion's rather than just always thinking that I am right all the time.We have as Biker said had some fun on our virtual party nights and lots of good information from lots of very intelligent Grans,I would be lost I think without GN now and look forward to opening my laptop every day to see what is going on in Gransnet Land.more

I've started to think 'what would Gransnetters think of this?' when dealing with something that takes some fathoming out. It's widened my horizons at a time of my life when i need to challenge myself and avoid becoming complacent or less willing to reach out. I love Gransnet! for everyone!

I don't know what I did before, but the dust in my house is now forming into shapes and taking on a life of it's own!

You've cheered me up when I'm down and improved my non existent computer skills.
I think I've probably become (slightly) more sociable and I've ventured out by rail. Something I wouldn't have thought possible.

I think it has made me more computer lliterate, not hard as before GN I hardly went near the computer.But through it I feel I am getting to know a group of diverse and interesting people, with wide interests and views. I raise a to you all .

Thank you for your wise words, Gally and all the other grans who have posted on this thread. I don't think I have changed, but Gransnet has allowed me to reach out, to have a meeting of minds and to learn from other people's experiences. I've met some lovely friends both face to face and on line and will continue to do so.

I really don't think I can envisage life without GN now; I have missed a few days recently and am amazed at what has been going on. I value the support, empathy, and friendship, and the way I am brought to recognise how trivial most of my problems are. It has opened up a whole new circle of people whose company I enjoy, and who are not connected with other groups to which I belong, so that I am constantly refreshed by different ideas and points of view.

I think we are a wonderfully varied group of people; long may it continue!xxxxx

Oh yes, I waste spend far too long at the laptop logging onto GN. Apart from giving me back ache (I think my chair is too high for the table I use ) I don't think GN has changed me. Like Glass says, it has opened me up to other ideas and has introduced me to many lovely ladies both virtual and real. It has helped me in my time of need, which seems to be ongoing, by allowing me to share my grief and receive comfort and advice just when I need it. It allows me to feel grateful for the life I lead and have lead when I read of other peoples' problems; they make mine seem miniscule in comparison. It has been humbling, uproariously funny, desperately sad, educational and revealing and as Marelli says, hopefully it will be a continuous in our lives for a long time to come. Three Cheers for GN!

I'm not getting my knitting done, or my library books read! I put the lid down on my laptop and lay it down beside me.....then suddenly in the middle of a row of knitting, I realise that there may be something to catch up on here! The laptop is then placed on top of the knitting for the next half-hour or so !

I'm spending far too long on GN and having an iPad makes it too easy to log on as its instant and portable. My house is neglected, my garden too. The grandchildren get up to all sorts if I'm not watching them and the husband thinks I have a secret online lover

Gransnet has opened up a new dimension for me. I'm in touch with some wonderful new friends. Interaction with many supportive members, means that I'm less lonely, much more confident and outgoing, and all the better for the kindness of strangers.

I don't think GN has changed me, but it has given me a lovely forum to engage with people whose expectations of me are, of necessity, limited. I love my family and friends and I have a really good circle of acquaintances, but I tend to be 'first port of call' for people who need a bit of help or emotional support. (Not complaining - that's just the way it is and I'm okay with that.)
On GN I'm just a teeny tiny cog in a big wheel of lovely supportive people, so I often feel that GN is there for me. Bit of a waffly response, but I hope it makes sense.

I am so glad I joined Gransnet, it has allowed me to talk to and meet some lovely, interesting ladies.

Well ermmm...I go to bed earlier now (but that is just an excuse to go to my den and come on Gransnet) DH goes to bed so I try to tap the keys very quietly
I have come across some touching posts and feel humble when reading some of them, I have had advice and support, and it really makes you realise there are many with worse problems than yours, but!! at the same time everyone keeps smiling and battling through..and where would we be without our "virtual parties" !! yes they are make believe! but what the heck.whats a bit of fantasy now and then and to all those who have managed to meet up.. "well done Gransnet for bringing complete strangers together cheers! mmmm think I need another

It has helped me learn how to use a computer. It has been amusing and at times I have felt the empathy some threads have generated has been nice to see.

It is interesting to read threads that make you 'think outside your box'.

I like the fact I can sit down and have a rest to join in!.

It certainly uses up my time - I have to be a bit strict with myself and SWITCH OFF!!!!!

Gransnet has changed my life; I now do even less housework and who would have thought that was possible!!

Gransnet has changed my life, I have virtually and physically met some lovely people. I have gained knowledge in fields that I was lacking and given me the ability to look at things from another angle, one that maybe before I wouldn't have.
I dont know what I did with myself before GN! Thanks you lot (sorry soop thats usually your line )

Grannylin, I think Gransnet has changed me as well. It's enabled me to see things from different and wider perspectives and also to discover new friends. I think I'll always have Gransnet in my life....unless it goes somewhere else....but don't think it will, do you?
