Jane x to you and the parents of the soldier

annodomini far more of my houseplants survive now that I hardly ever water them! I think I drowned most of the old ones. Water rarely and only when a finger pushed into the compost up to yr first finger joint detects no moisture. But every couple of months do feed them. I just add about half a teaspoon of liquid seaweed extract to the water, they seem to love it!

Hope you are feeling better soon isthis and celeb.
Just got home from a fab weekend in Cheshire, went to a school reunion dinner with two very dear friends. We left school 45 years ago - and of course don't look a day over 32.

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 17:55:33

Sorry to hear that, isthis. Sleep and warmth are great healers! Look after yourself.
I had a little trawl round the garden centre. African violets half price, so two for £3.50. I wonder if I can make them last. My mother was a genius with house plants but I usually have the kiss of death. She even managed to propagate them from leaf cuttings whereas I just went and bought a new one.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but felt rubbish all day with a chest infection and general thick head. Gave up at about mid-day, retired to bed and have slept most of the afternoon. Lots of glasses of water, occasional Paracetemol, some easy supper, that's the plan. Feel much better for sleep and staying wrapped up warm, but have missed church this evening. Boo!

I have started my Christmas shopping. DiL emailed a suggestion for GCs' presents which I proceeded to search for on line. After many blind alleys, I found just what they wanted at a reasonable price. Ordered! Two younger GC to think about now. Already knee deep in Lego, so that's out. Youngest is obsessed with Star Wars!

kittylester Sun 18-Nov-12 15:12:15

I spotted that jeni

I'm ironing and packing (when I'm not here, obviously) ready to go to the Peak District for a few days. I've already packed the two book presents from gransnet, so maybe I'll just lounge around all day in my dressing gown watching the birds through the window, drinking hot chocolate and reading. smile

Ana Sun 18-Nov-12 14:04:14

Yes - how mean of them to remove it! confused

jeni Sun 18-Nov-12 14:02:48

I know, but they left that one. I thought of it as a 'cheeky ' smile!

annodomini Sun 18-Nov-12 13:40:59

The h-emoticons were for Halloween, jeni. Never mind I am sure that if all goes well, they will soon be wearing Santa hats. smile If you want us to harangue Cari on the subject when she comes to our NW get-together, we will certainly have a go. wink

jeni Sun 18-Nov-12 12:57:46

I saw rust and bone as well isthis and crimson. It's brilliant - felt as though I didn't draw breath the whole way through. Marion cottilard is amazing.

Greatnan Sat 17-Nov-12 18:43:25

Ariadne - you will have to join Mishap in the A & E dept. The new bathroom sounds lovely. I wouldn't look at flats that had only a shower - there is nothing nicer than soaking in a a deep bath, perhaps with some candles lit, a glass of wine and some soothing music.

I had a long pm on Facebook from my grand-daughter-in-law, who keeps me up to date with everything my great gds are doing. Good job, as my grandson is useless at communication! She tells me Bryony, who is 5, is doing very well at school and loves it. My eldest gd is also very good at sending me news and photos - I know I am lucky to be able to figure in the lives of my great-grand-children and I am very grateful to their mums.

The weather has been wonderful here all week, so I have been able to enjoy long walks in the crisp Autumn air, with blue skies, and snow on the higher peaks.

Ariadne Sat 17-Nov-12 18:16:38

Oh, I will! Have had to have showers all week and I do so love my bath. smile I also slipped earlier this week getting into the shower in the en suite, and smacked my lower leg on the base of the door. It is now impressively technicolour with bruises. My leg I mean.

Butty Sat 17-Nov-12 18:10:21

Sounds lovely, Ariadne - Enjoy splashing about. smile
