Just had DS2 on the phone from his car on the way to hockey training - hasn't been deterred by last week's big black eye. Arrangements for Christmas - partner's mum is having marital problems with DH2. Sounds worrying. They will bring her over to Sandhurst to spend Christmas with the rest of us.

Butty Tue 13-Nov-12 19:50:36

Jess Janeain - I have one too - and he's married - but lovely daughter-in-law is just the same. It's a constant wonder that they both hold down good jobs. grin

JessM Tue 13-Nov-12 18:20:10

Original Post m'dear.
Butty she is, an all in one woman who works for him p/t and is much better at off-telling than I am.
I have already told him off once in the last month about putting something completely idiotic on FB.

Nonu Tue 13-Nov-12 18:15:56

What does OP mean , is it Old People ?

janeainsworth Tue 13-Nov-12 18:10:32

Been there Jesssmile
Had to curtail our last summer holiday by 4 days because DS would not get round to booking their flights for months and then when he did, there weren't any left that didn't overlap with our holiday[exasperated mother emoticon]

yes Ella they are smile

Today I have been through all the jobsites, plus DirectGov, but found nothing (plenty of vacancies for carers). Sent an on spec application to a local company. Asked Anne in local shop if I had two heads, or perhaps there was a sign that I couldn't see above my head saying "axe murder" and apparently there isn't.

Butty Tue 13-Nov-12 17:57:56

Jess PA/receptionist/cleaner/friend all female I suppose?!
grin

harrigran Tue 13-Nov-12 17:55:08

Had to do an early morning dash to collect GD2 before her Mum left for work.45 minute drive each way but no choice as we had to be at home today. Childminder taken ill and nobody able to take time off work. DIL came after work to let us get off to Doctors, we made it with one minute to spare, flu jab done.
We never had many problems when GD was at nursery but now we have to cover gaps in childcare. Not looking forward to the worst winter weather and leaving the house at 7am.

JessM Tue 13-Nov-12 17:42:53

Oh I spoke to DS2 in NZ. After about 6 unanswered calls. He is appearing on doorstep some time in January and requiring a lift back to Heathrow. Have asked a number of times WHEN???? (does not seem to be v hard question to me)

"HeLLO MUMMY darling!'
"Hello you, You been away or dropped yr phone into the Tasman sea or something?"
"No I've been avoiding you because you are going to tell me off because I can't find my flight details. Go on, tell me off."
" Perhaps it would be more to the point if you rang your travel agent?"
Sigh. Hoping his PA/receptionist/cleaner/friend will now nag on my behalf.

I`ve spent ages over the last 2 days looking through the minefield that is pet insurance. Still can`t decide which one is best, sooooo, will keep on looking and reading!

gracesmum Tue 13-Nov-12 17:00:23

I have spent a large part of today trying to open a new email account as it appears that my existing one has been hacked into - so if I am in contact with any of you by email and you get anything with external links, but without text, please delete without opening and DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING!!
Now I have opened a gmail account and tried to transfer(OK, import )my contacts - all I had to do was enter my password for the "old" account but gmail claimed I had got that wrong. So I have given up, looks like I'll be checking the old account for some time yet and also for people's email addresses. Why is life so complicated?

Ella46 Tue 13-Nov-12 16:53:02

Kitty and GrannyA You both look fabulous!

JaneA and Kitty aren't grandchildren just the best? smile

moomin Tue 13-Nov-12 16:38:20

Haven't looked at this thread for ages and it seems there have been weddings and also ups and downs. The wedding pics are super and it looks as though everybody had lovely occasions to treasure.

I hope those not so well are getting better flowers

We are in the midst of builders and this afternoon the mini-digger arrived to start digging a new driveway to the soon to be built new garage - the garden is looking very sorry for itself sad, but next Spring we can revive it and get planting new shrubs and flowers smile

kittylester Tue 13-Nov-12 16:00:28

Lovely hat - ga and super photos. Glad you are feeling a bit better! smile

I'm in very wide legged black trousers - over quite wide legs!!

Marelli - not very talented but the lady who ran the hat making course was brilliant at making me beleive it was all my own work!! wink

Grannylin Tue 13-Nov-12 15:57:01

Fabulous sets of photos flowers Which church is it ga ? Ottery St. Mary?

JessM Tue 13-Nov-12 15:55:25

janeainsworth flowers - I empathise.
A minor milestone chez jess. Our enigmatic next door neighbour (he spends most of his time in Africa we think}, with whom we share a drive, has got rid of the two dead cars . I thought they were going to be there until the sun froze over. A kind of tolerance challenge for us.
All that remains is an engine from the previous dead car, cunningly camoflaged with a reflective jacket and some other assorted rubbish. This is a huge improvement, sharing the shared drive with just one car instead of 3. grin

grannyactivist Tue 13-Nov-12 15:52:33

Kitty are you in black and white dress or long black skirt?

grannyactivist Tue 13-Nov-12 15:51:21

Hooray, I'm up and dressed today and even ventured out for a brief spell. (As in time - not grin). The honeymooners have returned home to take up residence on the top floor and have already made themselves useful by getting a fire going for me. I've managed to upload a couple more photo's; one of me and one of my sons and daughter. I can't change the order, but I have finally managed to get them to a size that I can see without straining my eyes.
