Jane x to you and the parents of the soldier

Mamie Sat 08-Dec-12 14:40:10

Yes, I hope so. I have already had a photo of her name in the programme!

Bags Sat 08-Dec-12 14:20:58

Will they be able to send you pictures? I hope so.

Mamie Sat 08-Dec-12 14:17:30

Well I saw her dance a couple of weeks ago Bags, but this is the first professional production and just a one-off.
Her other granny is there though and has never seen her dance before, so that is nice.

Bags Sat 08-Dec-12 14:12:46

Yes, it is a shame that you have to miss that, mamie. I hope there'll be other occasions when you can see the show.

Mamie Sat 08-Dec-12 13:53:13

annodomini Sat 08-Dec-12 13:46:46

Ariadne Sat 08-Dec-12 07:41:48

Aaaaahhhhhhh Mamie!

I have my two little GDs (8 & 6) and their Mummy and Daddy here. They arrived at midnight for various complicated reasons and are still fast asleep. DS2 is playing rugby down here today but I have Christmas markets lined up for the all the girls! And that lncludes DD and DG1 - nearly all the family. So happy.

Mamie Sat 08-Dec-12 07:18:01

My thoughts are with my nine year old GD who is appearing as a child dancer with a professional ballet company today, in A Christmas Carol.
I am a bit sad not to be there to see her (not long back from UK, can't go again), but will be there in spirit.

I went to the gym and a very nice young man showed me how to use some of the new equipment they have just installed. I wondered why some of the treadmills seemed to be faster than the others. Simple explanation - they are calibrated in miles and the ones behind them are in Kms.

harrigran Fri 07-Dec-12 22:47:27

Sorry to hear you are poorly again ga get well soon smile

Nelliemoser Fri 07-Dec-12 22:39:02

Having just made the previous post what do I see on television but an advert for Lego clearly aimed at Dads and Sons . Arrggh! angry

Nelliemoser Fri 07-Dec-12 22:29:10

I have just won an ebay auction on Ebay for a baby gym, to give my 9week old GS something to play with when he visits. He seems to really enjoy the one he has at home.
However I can't wait to get it and play with it. I think I am, regressing to second childhood. hmm
When he is older he will have a choice between a loft full of Lego or his mother's My little Ponies.
Having myself been irritated by shops selling "boys" and "girls" toys. I found my DD has posted this link onto Facebook.

It's ever so easy to use! I couldn't get on with computers until I had my iPad!
Now. I'm never parted from it!
Just get it out, charge it up. Follow the instructions
It's sooooooo easy!smile

Gally my mum has recently bought herself an i-pad and it was quite something to watch her using it so competently. She bought herself a laptop a couple of years ago so that she could keep in touch with family through Facebook - having never even used a computer before.

grannyactivist, take care of yourself. Hot water with lemon and a spoonful of honey sometimes helps me. These coughs always seem to be worse at night, don't they, when you're trying to sleep - and you try and stifle them so that your partner isn't disturbed. Hope you soon feel better.
Gally that's a nice present to give to yourself - sorry to hear you've got the dreaded lurgy too. Get the iPad up and running and you can lie in bed chatting to us on GN. smile

annodomini Thu 06-Dec-12 19:56:52

GA, poor you. Wish I'd known you were there. Not that there was much I could do about your cough, but maybe cheered you up. Several people I know have chesty coughs at the moment - I think I've had mine for this winter. hmm. Meanwhile, GA, take it very easy - I know the WM will see to that. You are now in the best place - your own bed. ((((hugs))))

Gally Thu 06-Dec-12 19:45:30

GA flowers Hope you soon feel much better.
I think 50% of our village is coughing - me too, so I know how you feel sitting up in bed cough, cough, cough. DD3 and her baby have been told they have a form of whooping cough and some friends, a couple in their 60's, have it too. All very odd.
Today after much deliberation, should I shouldn't I, I went out and bought my Christmas present from me to me ( in the absense of Mr.G). I've got an iPad. Still in its box as I can't bring myself to sorting it out yet; think I may have to ask for assistance from my personal technical guru who lives 5 doors away grin

Jodi Thu 06-Dec-12 19:38:06

GA get well soon x

Got home from Manchester late last night; I was so poorly I barely left the hotel at all and only saw my mum for a very short time, but I'm happy to have made the effort. I called in to Manchester town centre for a couple of hours yesterday as my flight didn't leave until the evening and then I took the bus to the airport, arriving several hours before my flight was due. I do think that Mancunians are some of the kindest people you can meet. I was given a whole packet of mints by a stranger on the bus who was concerned about my cough, two young lads in their early twenties offered to get me water and a chair when I was in M&S and a lovely, rather elderly lady tapped me on the shoulder and gave me her cough sweets. Even at the airport I was offered water by the check-in lady.
Today, after another night of endless coughing, I've done - NOTHING. My classes are all cancelled and I'm just going to catch up on everything I've missed since Sunday.

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 19:04:05

Hope all went well!

Bez Thu 06-Dec-12 18:13:23

Collected my OH from hospital today - been in since last Sat and had a small Op on Monday but because he is on warfarin was in for a longer time. Great not to be going out in the dark and cold visiting! Much better having at home again with us.

isthisallthereis Thu 06-Dec-12 17:59:49

At last I've got my act together to put in a detailed, reasoned (I hope) complaint to Virgin Media about their dreadful service and high charges. I'm not holding my breath!

Jodi Thu 06-Dec-12 15:55:52

We've finished clearing our office a day early.

Everything packed away or shredded.

Feeling euphoric grin

Off to Scotland for two weeks on Saturday morning smile

The artificial Christmas tree shock we bought 'to make life easier' arrived yesterday afternoon so when I got back from looking after 2 DGCs we had a quick meal and spent the next 2 hours slotting the flipping thing together and unfolding and spreading out branches. We were so tired after that we didn't have the energy to decorate the silly thing so had a cup of tea and went to bed. Woke up at 4am needing the loo after a late cup of tea and couldn't get back to sleep. Blessed tree had better look good when it's decorated.
