Smoluski Thu 22-Nov-12 18:47:48

That is exactly why I wondered ,I could relay all the stories as they unfolded, just think of all the material...wonder if the job has been snatched up yet. grin

Elegran Thu 22-Nov-12 18:29:31

Smoluski If you had a little office you could sit in there with your laptop posting to Gransnet, and letting the cleaning go to b***ery.

soop Thu 22-Nov-12 18:11:13

Tinker boots! grin

Smoluski Thu 22-Nov-12 15:42:41

soop Thu 22-Nov-12 15:24:33

NellieSmol Correct! Remember first using the floor polisher on the library floor. It took off like a rocket and for some moments both it and I were out of control...grin shock

Smoluski Thu 22-Nov-12 14:40:11

Smoluski Thu 22-Nov-12 14:39:02

soop did a part time evening job in Essex cleaning offices and toilets, for different companies,do like to make them all clean and sparkly, but got told off for too heavy handed with the bleach and disinfectant.
So you were in charge of yourself then grin

soop Thu 22-Nov-12 11:16:58

NellieSmol I had a part-time evening job way back when. I was the lavvy /library/swimming pool cleaner in a very expensive private hospital for drug/alcohol dependent rich/famous people. The first time I went to enter the gents, in order to clean them, I was put off by the sound of flushing water. My subsequent efforts to enter were unsuccesful [due to the flushing] which I had thought was because the lav was in use. When I mentioned this to the only other person I ever met on the premises, I was told that, yes, whenever the door is opened, the cystern automatically flushes. blush Anyway, after six months, I was "promoted" to supervisor. I even had a small pay rise. Daft thing was, I was the only cleaner on duty for the nights that I worked. Still can't sort that one out! confused grin

Gagagran Thu 22-Nov-12 08:27:39

The window cleaner at our previous address always referred to himself as "Vision Technician".

Greatnan Thu 22-Nov-12 08:16:13

If you did take a temporary job as a toilet attendant, you could put it on your CV as 'Hygiene facilities director'!

Smoluski Wed 21-Nov-12 21:23:18

Must admit to thinking of all the positives and new material I would get from being a toilet attendant, keep you lot amused for hours grin

Thank you soop you are so good for my morale
Thank you merlot and number xxxx

numberplease Wed 21-Nov-12 15:53:43

Hope you get a favourable reply very soon Nellie.

merlotgran Wed 21-Nov-12 11:50:46

I can't help giggling at the thought of Lil and Matron being toilet attendants. The mind boggles blush

Good luck with the job search, Nellie

soop Wed 21-Nov-12 11:40:24

NellieSmol You have many qualities that should be shared. You are a "people person". I doubt that working in a public lavatory, would give you the statisfaction you seek and deserve. smile.

Smoluski Tue 20-Nov-12 17:10:08

Hicelebgran thank you for asking ,no not heard yet,is a severe shortage of work hereabouts, the job I applied for was in a garage forecourt in their shop, the only other I may stand a chance of getting is a toilet attendant, for which you need customer service skills confused ..will keep lookingxxx
Beauty therapy does take a backseat when money is scarce, but respect for getting your head around the science bit, agree with the bit about having an interest, some days am so bored I could climb the walls,as well as earning a wage I want to do something other than boring housework, and to get out more.

celebgran Tue 20-Nov-12 11:32:42

smoluski any luck on job front?? do hope you heard back if not keep positive!!

there does not seem any money about for my trade, I qualified as massage therapist, screwed my brains out for Anatomy and physiology gave me enormous boot when passed with distinction, helped me feel good after daughter rejection, but sadly no clients, admittedly I could advertise more

I do have few regular beauty clients, and am lucky not desperate for cash just good to have interest.

Greatnan Mon 19-Nov-12 16:42:35

Good luck, Nellie flowers

soop Mon 19-Nov-12 14:30:38

NellieSmol I know how you must be feeling. The not knowing is a drain on the emotions. As for lowering your expectations; I used to manage a successful retail outlet in Cornwall. Now, I'm a domestic help. Mr soop was a self-employed architect. Now he does odd jobs. It's the way it is...no-one gets owt for nowt! Big hugs. smile

Smoluski Mon 19-Nov-12 14:24:19

have lowered me sights as well soop ....much lower I will be fighting Lil for a job on the corner..grin

Smoluski Mon 19-Nov-12 14:22:29

Thanks soop, not a lot around in these parts will keep looking, worst thing is hanging on not knowing...can get over not getting it..grin ...am just impatient ,can't bear waiting for the phonexxxxxx
