Too cold and wet out there

Grace says "Thank you" Geraldine and Kat-ladies at GNHQ for saying mum doesn't need to stay out here any longer. I think she has learned her lesson but it has been an education for her to read lots of posts without giving in to the temptation to respond. And not a lot of kennels have wi-fi you know.

Thank you for messages of support and even jo5 saying I can come back .
Quote: "Give it a few days. You will start to feel better and then you could come back." [pathetically grateful] emoticon, but then I read on and well, no surprises there.
Like the ins and outs of parliamentary procedure I do hope that it was more how I expressed myself rather than the sentiments but it was reassuring that a lot of Grannies seemed to agree with me. But 'nuff said (I am educated enough to know that is not how you spell it, just a turn of phrase) If it is occasionally like having to walk through the boys' lavatories to get to the library, so be it. I will look on' it as a tolerable price to pay for the friendship I have met, the supportive advice and the (mostly) intelligent observations of my fellow Grannies.
I know this is a different thread but if I may just comment on jo5's "advice" to anybody contemplating joining Gransnet, it amounts to four words - be sincere- be genuine.
It's not about education, it's not about spelling, it's not about who can shout the loudest and it's not about who can be the wittiest.
"To thine own self be true" - and you can't go far wrong.

You asked if I were frightening, and I replied that I am not. What else would you like me to answer. I still don't know why you told Faye that she would have to 'face' something from the Antipodean group. We are a friendly bunch and will welcome her with open arms.

Movedalot Mon 26-Nov-12 16:13:36

Once again Greatnan you have not fully answered the question. Yes Ana you are used to that too!

Ana Mon 26-Nov-12 16:12:13

I'm used to it, Movedalot! grin

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 16:10:11

Not in the least, which is why I was surprised by your reference.

Movedalot Mon 26-Nov-12 16:08:28

Well that put you in your place Ana! Greatnan I think Ana has a right, just as you and everyone else does, to say what she thinks.

It seems that you are putting your own slant on things Greatnan I made no mention of fear! Why did you interpret it like that? Are you frightening?

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 16:02:32

I am sure she can answer for herself.

Ana Mon 26-Nov-12 15:59:55

I thought Movedalot was just referring to Sel's mental picture of Gransnetters generally...confused

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 15:56:04

As I contributed to that thread, I am unlikely to have missed it, but I still don't understand what it is you think Faye will be facing! Surely absent, Jess, Joan and myself are not that frightening!

Movedalot Mon 26-Nov-12 15:52:51

Greatnan I saw in some thread a suggestion that in future there will be an Antipodean group of GNs. I'm surprised you missed that.

Sel you could just leave it all and allow her to feel superior. smile

Sel Mon 26-Nov-12 15:41:20

Good on ya london, see, it was easy smile I am really trying to do something productive; my hyper house proud Italian daughter in law will be staying next week so I thought a kitchen cupboard check was in order...I found things that pre date 2000. I have bitten the bullet and thown them out - not because I think they are unuseable, I just don't want her to think me a slut. I cannot be held responsible for cleaning the bike shed, you've probably realised that by now.

london Mon 26-Nov-12 15:14:24

right am out and feeling quite brave x

Greatnan Mon 26-Nov-12 15:04:41

Do tell us what Faye has to anticipate, Movedalot. I am quite intrigued.

Sel Mon 26-Nov-12 14:58:14

Awww, london come out from there, you're in the gang!! I promise I'm not a bad influence..wine

petallus with my hips these days, a Tardis might be useful smile

london Mon 26-Nov-12 14:51:34

SEL if your looking for me am behind the shed ..hiding from the gang smile

petallus Mon 26-Nov-12 14:37:03

Maybe it's a tardis shed?

Sel Mon 26-Nov-12 14:36:56

Movedalot I'm resisting the temptation to answer that blush

Movedalot Mon 26-Nov-12 14:00:21

Sel is there room in there to do anything productive?

Sel Mon 26-Nov-12 13:48:53

Almost a gang then grin I really must stop being so childish and do something productive!

Movedalot Mon 26-Nov-12 13:36:31

Faye and Sel can I come too? Sel you seem to have hit the nail. Faye just look what you have to anticipate when the Antipodean meet comes!

Faye Mon 26-Nov-12 01:49:35

I like your description of Gransnet Sel I think it quite apt. I might join you in the bike shed too, it sounds more like the fun place to be. We had a small lunch shed which faced the street and if you stood on the table you could see through a small hole in the wall. We were aways ready to butt out if we saw a teacher striding towards us across the oval. grin

Now you mention it .....I don't think we did. But yes, IMHO I think he's a very clever little dog. He used to fetch a ball for me, but after a couple of times he just gave up. I could see on his face he was thinking 'why bother? She'll just throw it away again.'

Night all moon

gracesmum Sun 25-Nov-12 21:14:28

Let's try that again:
"having taught him....." "did anybody bother to tell him....." I do wish we had an "edit" button (along with the "Oh Sh*t" key on the computer)

gracesmum Sun 25-Nov-12 21:12:13

Well come on, nanadog - having taight his the "sit" command, did anybody bother ti tell him the "stand up again"one? smile Super bright IMHO

london Sun 25-Nov-12 20:33:21

sel smile

Nanadog Sun 25-Nov-12 20:06:15

One of my Lhasas was expelled from the doggy training class for being stubborn! He was the first puppy to learn the 'sit' command, but that was it. He would then just sit and refuse to do anything else.
Never have worked out if he's really stupid or super-bright. But he lets the grandchildren climb all over him and dress him up. He loves the fuss and attention.
