Too cold and wet out there

Grace says "Thank you" Geraldine and Kat-ladies at GNHQ for saying mum doesn't need to stay out here any longer. I think she has learned her lesson but it has been an education for her to read lots of posts without giving in to the temptation to respond. And not a lot of kennels have wi-fi you know.

Thank you for messages of support and even jo5 saying I can come back .
Quote: "Give it a few days. You will start to feel better and then you could come back." [pathetically grateful] emoticon, but then I read on and well, no surprises there.
Like the ins and outs of parliamentary procedure I do hope that it was more how I expressed myself rather than the sentiments but it was reassuring that a lot of Grannies seemed to agree with me. But 'nuff said (I am educated enough to know that is not how you spell it, just a turn of phrase) If it is occasionally like having to walk through the boys' lavatories to get to the library, so be it. I will look on' it as a tolerable price to pay for the friendship I have met, the supportive advice and the (mostly) intelligent observations of my fellow Grannies.
I know this is a different thread but if I may just comment on jo5's "advice" to anybody contemplating joining Gransnet, it amounts to four words - be sincere- be genuine.
It's not about education, it's not about spelling, it's not about who can shout the loudest and it's not about who can be the wittiest.
"To thine own self be true" - and you can't go far wrong.

Not a bad description Sel

Looking up Llasa's on wikipedia [I like to find out about different dogs] I found a reference to a study done on the intelligence of dogs. Now, this study was based on how many times a command had to issued before the dog obeyed or understood it [I'm not too clear on that because you'd argue that a more intelligent dog would disobey a command if it didn't really want to do it]. Anyway, top of the list, unsurprisingly [which must mean it's about understanding, I guess] was the Border Collie and German Shepherd. However, in the top bracket was the Papillon. I once spoke to the owner of a Papillon [I tend to accost dog owners in the street and ask them about their dogs blush] and they said these little dogs will walk for miles. Not that that would be much good to me these days as I can't sad. But it's an interesting list all the same. Whippets came very low down, but I'm not surprised about that.

Thanks folks, I do love my dogs.
crimson I don't know about showing but a small Lhasa and a big Shih Tzu are hard to tell apart.
anno they are the most laid back dogs I've ever had. And very loving.
jeni sad

jeni Sun 25-Nov-12 18:27:51

I want one! But I can't walk them and I'm either working or cruising.

annodomini Sun 25-Nov-12 18:18:52

The Lhasa Apsos are gorgeous, Nanad. My friend's daughter has one. He's very cuddly and so soft!

crimson Sun 25-Nov-12 18:16:23

I get Lhasa Apsos and Shih Tzus mixed up; in showing one has a top knot and one doesn't I think?

Nelliemoser Sun 25-Nov-12 18:15:08

Got it at last "JO" If you don't log in to these threads every two hours you find the plot ?(if their ever was one) has moved on too fast to catch.

jO5 Sun 25-Nov-12 18:10:24

Oh did I? Sorry.

Nanadog Sun 25-Nov-12 18:09:31

They are lovely aren't they? And the grandchildren are not bad either. They're Lhasa Apsos (next size up from Shih Tzus. I did have a Bichon once....mad as a hatter he was. smile

As you said yesterday, jo5 - and indeed a weird story. I wonder if any teenagers nowaday would read a bit of that ilk?

jO5 Sun 25-Nov-12 18:00:04

It's the other name for 'She' isn't it - Ayesha? The book by H.Rider Haggard. (otherwise known as She Who Must be Obeyed)

I think.

Weird story. Read it in my teens!

Sel Sun 25-Nov-12 17:58:01

london good to see you again - I was worried you'd been intimidated smile I'm slowly getting a mental picture of Gransnet and it's looking like a school common room with some patrolling head girls, prefects, some naughty girls in the form, lots of attainment lists on the walls..with stars for some and lots of rules policed by the Head Girls. Then, in the playground the bemused and amused. Hey ho. Back to the bike sheds grin

annodomini Sun 25-Nov-12 17:43:59

Thanks, jeni. I hadn't liked to ask! Didn't want to appear thick. grin

jeni Sun 25-Nov-12 17:28:31

She who must be obeyed aka Ayesha aka jingle

Nelliemoser Sun 25-Nov-12 17:03:13

Nanadog Sun 25-Nov-12 14:18:56

Just come back from paddling the dogs. Couldn't get on racecourse as it was flooded and would have come over the top of my wellingtons. Plus my two are only little dogs so they would have had to swim for it. The car park was flooded too and a fast flowing steam running from there onto the main road... that ought to have alerted me had I been paying attention, but we paddled up that only to find a lake with seagulls on it.
The Avon's burst it's banks just to the north of us, this flood is 100 metres to the south....hope there's no more rain up there as its getting very close hmm

annodomini Sun 25-Nov-12 09:19:13

Drew the curtains, saw the weather and went back to bed. But struggled out again because I have promised to take senior GD to lunch. I hope she is in a cheerful mood. sunshine

Nanadog Sun 25-Nov-12 08:18:36

Perishing cold here Faye. I would probably like George if be hadn't been rolling in dead birds.

Has JO changed her name yet again or is that her pet's name? What kind of animal would be called Ayesha?

My chickens have lovely names except for Heklyn.

Welcome back gracesmum

I've lost the plot a bit on this thread. Not sure why the doghouse visit.

Why can't we post through our pets then?

I was going to get my cat Heidi to do this post but she is asleep on the bed here.

My rabbit Basil would but he can't spell and his grammar is bad.
