Gransnet on Facebook

It seems to give a different front page every time I go on and takes a lot of fiddling to get back to the page or the post I wanted.
I have had a go but I am getting rather bored by it.

Somehow quite unknown to me, Facebook (maps) shows that I appear to have visited the sexodrome in Hong Kong! There seems no way I can delete that.

I couldn't be bothered with fb, I have 'facebook fatique' I believe it's called. Don't see the point in 'liking' something. The most annoying thing is the constant fiddling with all the settings, and my DD has to keep on telling me that the whole world can see my photos, when I am pretty sure that I've sorted out the security. I suspect they default things back to 'public' every time they change things. And not to mention that I am now party to stuff about my (barely) teenage nieces and nephews that I would rather not know! I have about 5 email addresses to check on a regular basis (2 personal, one I've had forever and people still write to it + my usual one); 3 for work, one that BT internet forced on to me, another that Sky forced on to us... I hope the latter 2 are happily collecting spam. Then I've got a Twitter account to manage for work, Linked In, forum moderator for work, blog moderator for work ... it's a wonder I ever have time to get a life!

I'm glad it is not just me, Faye - I have asked several times what my friends can see, and if they can see the posts my daughter puts on my own page.
They seem to keep changing the system all the time.
I have also mistakenly published something on my wall which I intended to be a private message.
I can't stop using Facebook as it is my way of keeping in touch with what my grandchildren are doing - I can't expect youngsters to keep sending me e-mails with their news.

I have Facebook but I would not wish my friends to read any comments I put on Gransnet on Facebook. Facebook changes things all the time so you never know what your friends can see. confused

No, you haven't missed much! grin

POGS Sat 01-Dec-12 19:32:53

Thanks Ana

No it goes smaller. Never mind.

Have I missed much much?. Don't want to join Facebook I am only jUSt capable of this. blush

Ana Sat 01-Dec-12 19:21:35

Can you make your visible screen bigger, POGS? The 'close' button may be hidden. It's only half-visible on mine.

POGS Sat 01-Dec-12 19:14:59

Well I am being even thicker because I can't see a 'close button' at the bottom right corner.

Am I alone?

Ana Thu 29-Nov-12 15:07:38

You think? grin

Anne58 Thu 29-Nov-12 15:05:42

Not stupid at all Ana , just operating on a higher plane...................

Ana Thu 29-Nov-12 14:59:14

Oh, how stupid am I? (Don't answer that...)
Thanks Kat!

Nope. A huge box covers the whole of the screen: 'To connect with Gransnet, sign up for Facebook today'. No x visible. Oh well...sad

Sorry I didn't mean 'x' at the top corner - I meant to say click the 'close' button at the bottom right corner of the box! Opps.

Well, it won't let me look at it without signing up!

When you access the page, there's a Facebook pop-up asking you to join - just click on the 'x' at the top corner of the box and it'll disappear. Hopefully then you'll be able to see the page.

Greatnan you and me both! I get so frustrated, the are quite a few things that I can do without a problem, I can build and format an excel sheet, I can create and deliver a powerpoint presentation, but can't seem to "do" Facebook!

I have no idea about Facebook. Can I look at Gransnet on Facebook even though I am not a member? If so, how?

Indeed you can, here's our Facebook page. You'll need to sign up to Facebook if you'd like to post on the page though.

Phoenix, I am constantly getting things wrong on Facebook and they have recently changed all the conditions. MY daughter has talked me through how to transfer photos several times - she is getting a bit testy now! I do need it, to keep in touch with my far-flung families but I wish they could keep it simple!

Anne58 Thu 29-Nov-12 10:11:15

I have a facebook account which I very rarely use, but I might try dipping in! To be honest, I could probably do with a Facebook tutorial confused blush

glassortwo Thu 29-Nov-12 10:10:32

I do too greatnan sometimes the comment reminds you of a forum member of GN smile

Greatnan Thu 29-Nov-12 10:05:08

I rarely remember to look at this page on FB, but when I do I just try to guess which forum member is posting!
