What should you be doing?

Grreatnan, don't I know it - I am a bit of a caution! My other pal and I used to go along to the auctions and buy boxes of 'odds', which we sorted out and, once we had enough good, old pieces, used to sell at antique fairs. Once we found an old diary. It was a 1932 one, but had been used by a young woman to record her thoughts during the London Blitz. Her husband was a 'fire-watcher', and she feared for his safety each night when he went out. She spoke of how the planes came over and how frightened she was, especially when it was a 'bombers' moon'. She spoke about being unable to find good food then her delight when the butcher had a delivery of rabbit. She recorded her despair when once again she miscarried. We contacted the Imperial War Museum who asked if we would let them have it, which of course we did.

That's a good idea, think I'll put that on my Christmas list Gally.
Need to put swimming costume on it too. Finally went for the swim and, as I was feeling a bit porky and as the changing room was empty, I had a good look in the full length mirror at my backside. Horrors! The whole of the back of my costume was see-through and I've only had it 6 months. What a sight!

number I know I'm very lucky to be able to get a cleaning company in for a couple of hours. I would actually rather do it myself (silly or what) but it's just the thought of attacking no less than 11 full height glass doors in th e kitchen and removing nose prints and dozens of sticky mini hand prints and scraping up dried food from the tiled floor which has made me go down this route - I don't think it'll become a regular thing

No, I didn't get anything, number, but I did bid on an old wall-mounted phone! It was lovely - the sort that had the bit that you put to your ear, and you spoke into a funnel thing . Stopped bidding at £70 .

Glad you went ahead with getting the cleaners in, Gally - not that I thought your house needed it, of course , but it means you can just let someone else get on with it for you, especially as your back's still hurting.
I should be starting on the tea, but am still thawing out after being at the auctions for most of the day with a friend. It was absolutely perishing in there!

cleaning sticky fingermarks off the windows
and a multitude of other boring domestic chores

but I'm not; I pulled a muscle in my back/side picking up the 3 year old and I'm taking it easy; I've gone on strike for the day, jacked up the c.h. and am sitting with my feet up, laptop on lap, telly on, phone by my side, cup of tea and box of chocolates on the side table and have just arranged for a firm to come in and do the cleaning one day next week - my Christmas present to myself

Nothing - I can't get out because it is still snowing and there is at least a foot of snow on the car park and about three feet of it on the car.
My flat is warm and cosy and my TV signal has now come back, so I am having a third duvet day.

sort out and shred old paperwork
set up new printer
then if I have time catch up on some reading!

All of the above except for the rowing machine - only because I don't have one.
