Seems ages since we had a quiet corner bolt hole, so how about a new seasonal one ?smile
Just a little spot to come and visit from time to time and re-charge batteries. Nothing heavy or serious ever happens in here, it's a place for bantering and smiling.
If it's a Grotto, maybe a few twinkly lights over the entrance? Plenty of squishy sofas for relaxing. I've left a plate of mince pies on the table and a flask of hot chocolate, so help yourselves.
Does anyone have any nice scented candles?

I should stop lazing about here and do a few things. I had to laugh when GS4 wanted to wake his mother up who was having a sleep (there are a few of us staying over at sons for Christmas) and I told GS4 not to wake his Mum and baby sister up. He was edging towards the door and I told him Father Christmas wouldn't bring him presents tonight. He looked at me crossly and said 'Grandma, you are so old, so old.' smile

Happy Christmas Eve to any Grotto visitors today!
I've already been out for a couple of very last minute bits and now it's nearly time to put the sprouts on grin

I am staying at son's house and laying on the couch. Their street is having a street party and I have to admit when DIL said come out I declined. They all look like they are 30s to 40s and I am full from the nice lunch we had and not bothered making chit chat to people who all know each other. If I eat one more thing I won't be able to eat Christmas lunch tomorrow. No offering me a mince pie, I am such a guts with no resistance, I would probably eat it. blush

I'm curling up on the sofa tonight. All the beds are taken up and I can't face another night with the snorting snorer angry

Nelliemoser Sun 23-Dec-12 23:34:54

Ella He sounds very thoughtful, what a kind soul. Can you send him up to me? I do only want my dinner cooked! wink

Ella46 Sun 23-Dec-12 22:43:19

Can I just loll on a sofa for a few minutes? My son cooked a huge roast dinner for me this evening as I declined the offer to have Christmas day with them, because my very obnoxious ex will be there along with a couple of other 'difficult' people!

Life's just too short for that sort of agony! grin

Anyway, I'm too fat to move now, but it was delicious smile

Done! By 4.00 p.m. There was only one thing left that needed cleaning, and that was me. Am now fragrant and clean, hair done, PJs on. Now, here's to us, my lovely friends! wine wine wine xxxxx

gracesmum Sun 23-Dec-12 21:12:29

They should have Lent straight after Christmas - it would be so easy to give up chocolate/booze/shopping/daytine TV (Oh no, not that) wouldn't it? I'm starting a double size Delia chocolate bread and butter pudding right now - cooking that is, not eating!!!

glassortwo Sun 23-Dec-12 21:08:37

Well bring it on I am finished, got a funeral tomorrow morning then to the crib service in the afternoon phewwwwwwww..........I never want to enter another shop until at least Easter hmm

Nelliemoser Sun 23-Dec-12 20:46:08

I have been shopping and cooking in preparation for the apocalypse. wink aka my post christmas visitation from DD, Sil and baby GS. He won't yet be able to sample all the lovely goodies I have prepared, well not directly.

Also entertaining the local church goers with our choirs christmas carol concert.

More cooking. I am shattered. I must wrap some present before new year. sigh.

gracesmum Sun 23-Dec-12 20:25:57

Nobody here since Wednesday? What are you doing? Shopping? Wrapping? Cooking? Oh, I see, drinking champagne Nonu hmm
I think some grans should get back in here and do some serious chilling or I shall get lonely!!

Movedalot Wed 19-Dec-12 10:46:38

Ana smile

Ana Wed 19-Dec-12 10:26:10

Wonderful news, Movedalot! smile Thank you for sharing that - it's good to know that such good work is being carried out in that area!

Movedalot Wed 19-Dec-12 10:22:49

I'm back in and feeling brilliant today! Spent some time yesterday with my friend who had an op for cancer last Thursday, came home on Friday and looks fantastic smile She has been told it hasn't spread to the lymph nodes but was in a blood vessel which sounds pretty good to me. I was really worried about her but she looked so well and positive that I woke up this morning feeling on top of the world.

Champagne all round grin

Anyone bursting my bubble today is in big trouble.

kittylester Wed 19-Dec-12 09:58:55

Ok, enjoy your day, those of you who are resting here but may I have a really comfy seat when I get back please as it's babysitting day and Christmas Fever is raging in their house. Just a soothing hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and a flake will be nice if there happens to be any around. smile

Ariadne Wed 19-Dec-12 06:39:51

They were delicious, Butty and certainly stopped the seething - thank you! So sorry I fell asleep (and that I spilled my wine) before I could thank you. smile

Notsogrand Tue 18-Dec-12 23:21:48

I can smell the vinegar on those chips!
So Baileys ice cream now....it's versatile isn't it? grin

Butty Tue 18-Dec-12 21:21:35

Here you are, Ariadne - fresh from the fryer! When you eat chips you can't seeth at the same time! grin

Ariadne Tue 18-Dec-12 20:45:45

Oh, all right then! No chips tonight. Probably as well. Would anyone like to try this Bailey's ice cream? It's my own version and rather yummy. Little biscuits too...dig in, girls!

AlieOxon Tue 18-Dec-12 20:26:25

I'm going to sleep on it. It's way off topic for here, anyway....I haven't been here before and it's a great place, isn't it?

Gracesmum I love your poem and Nanadog I have just sent the recipe to my DD, as she rang up while I was still giggling!

annodomini Tue 18-Dec-12 20:09:33

Have you rung the JR, Alie? After the year you've had, the last thing you need is a dose of noro.

gracesmum Tue 18-Dec-12 19:40:31

Maybe a few minutes in here will get me in the Christmas spirit - right now I really can't be botheredsad [fedup] emoticon

Ariadne Tue 18-Dec-12 19:30:06

Any more chips? (hopeful emoticon)
