Like it or not, times are changing and beyond the early terrors of children's education, psyche, eyesight and social skills being deformed by the devil's computer screens, there are benefits.

Being unable to explain to a telephone Santa exactly what he'd like for Christmas, three year old grandson Oscar asked his mum for her iPad and touched the Amazon app icon. He managed to find the game, Skylanders Giants he was after and gave Santa the full low down.

Santa duly promised to try his best and said Rudolph would look forward to carrots during his busy night.

Call ended, a thoughtful child asked a few minutes later, "Mummy, does Santa work for Amazon dot co"?

You all know how hard it is not to laugh!

Even so - I dread the arrival of things like Playstations in my DGC's lives. There is also a thing which sounds like incontinence - a Wee is it?

Wii, but the pronunciation is the same. My GC have had those hand-held Nintendo gadgets and had a lot of pleasure out of them and there are some educational activities on them as well as games. And they can play together each on his/her own console. However, I happen to know that they are getting something even better for Christmas, but don't tell them - shhhhhh. smile
