Welcome Lainey. I joined in about April 2012 when I was first told I was to be a Gran.
My 1st GS arrived at the end of September. He is very sweet and now at 9 weeks very smiley and very good at charming by cooing and smiling, but he could do with sleeping a bit more.

It is an amazing feeling to hold your grandchild, and sniff that lovely baby smell again. I cannot stop doing this to my GS's head when I see him and I feel like a mother sheep. You can tell the very new Grans because like me we just keep talking about the baby!

As for Gransnet, search the forums and see what discussion is going on. It can vary from serious poetry appreciation to rather less serous tattoo appreciation. To the just plain enjoyable silliness. There is discussion of all sorts with very little being off limits if you follow the basic rules.
Do be aware of addiction though.

I am expecting some funny moments at GD's play next week especially when her younger sister goes to see it. GD1 has some lines to say and GD2 has heard them so often that she can recite them perfectly, when GD1 starts her lines GD2 is definitely going to have her moment

Jab that is very true you hear some things that make you blink away the tears and 90% of them you forget, my DD has started a small book where she writes down the little gems... I had one on the way home from school this week listening to a conversation between a 6yr old brother and a 4 yr old sister discussing the Nativity play... GD asked what the boy and girl were called that played Mary and Jospeh, GS told her their names and she said what about baby Jesus will there be a baby Jesus........ and he raised his eyebrows and said Baby Jesus is a doll (as only a 6yr old brother can) Gd jumped in and said well of course as Baby Jesus does not live in C* * * * ll (our village) but in heaven.

Welcome Lainey, I'm a newbe too, so I'm still learning the same as you, in fact I'm still learning on the laptop, so I'm expecting I'll make lot of mistakes. My Grandchildren are getting too grown up now, in fact GD will be 18 on Tuesday, and GS is now 16, they grow up so quickly so enjoy them while you can, I'd love to be going through the young stage again, I think all little ones are so much fun, wish I had written down some of the funny things they say and do when they are learning to talk and walk, you always think you will never forget but sadly you do (or I do). It's worth having a little note pad to write things down it would be so great to look back on. Don't know if any other GNetters agree. Also make sure you have a good camera ready, you will be taking hundreds of photos of your grandchild/ren. Don't I go on, but it is so much fun being a grandparent.

Welcome Lainey My GC are my DS's children and I get to see them all the time, when Mum and Dad are busy I childmind.
It really is a wonderful experience being a grandmother and I enjoy doing the things I did not have time for when I had my own children

Haha I'll try and find time. I've never used any forum sites before so not sure what I'm doing but hey I'll get the hang of it eventually!!

Thanks glassortwo thank you for your welcome I'm really excited about the baby I just hope because I'm the mil I get to see the baby often. I would hate if I could not be close to my grandchild!!

Hi Lainey do you know what you are letting yourself in for because once GN gets a hold you are done for!!!!
Nothing beats the feeling of getting that new GC in your arms...... March will be here before you know it!
