Sister got married in January on the east coast of Scotland - you could have bet on freezing temperatures and a wind from Siberia, so I, as a bridesmaid, bought some warm, cream tights to keep me warm under the satin dress. On a beautifully sunny and mild day, I wasn't just warm. I was roasted.

One DD got married in June and one in July. Both times we decided to have a buffet at home the night before and let everyone eat in the garden. Both times we all ended up huddled round the fire. The photos for the June wedding had to be taken inside the church as the rain bucketed down outside. I have a friend who got married in December and it was mild and sunny. confused Hope it's a great day, janthea. (You could put your thermal vest in your handbag in case you need to slip away at some point and put it on.)

Isn't that the way the youngsters go out on a Friday night?

I went to a December wedding a few years ago and inside the church it looked like the Bigg Market on a Friday night. (Glass and all the other Newcastle grans will know what I mean).
The young lasses were uniformly attired in strapless cocktail dresses and the temperature in the church was at brass monkey level.
Needless to say I was well wrapped up in warmest coat, hat, scarf and gloves I could find.
I'm sure you won't be the only one Janthea

Good thinking, Janthea - I hope you have a lovely time. My grandson got married in Eastry in August and the reception was at St. Margaret's Bay. It was a lovely, sunny day and everything worked like clockwork!

I'm off to the wedding of the daughter of an old friend tomorrow in Canterbury. The wedding is around 3pm. I'm driving there (2hrs drive). The invitation said 'party sparkles' Looking at the weather I think I'm going to wear boots and a very, very warm coat to the church and change into party shoes and a wrap for the reception. Brrrrrr! hmm
