Sticky labels

Buy a bottle of sticky stuff remover from Lakeland, it takes sticky marks off eveything. It takes chewing gum out of hair and shoe polish off skirting boards, I know I have done it.

We've discussed this on a thread before - how I do share your frustration! To my mind, you should not have to buy a bottle of sticky stuff remover - the manufacturers should not use labels that either cannot be removed, or spoil the product in the process of removal - illogical Captain!

I feel your pain Barrow, I spent ages today getting the price labels off some pretty mugs I'd bought and wanted to wrap for gifts.. I had to scrap then scrub with a kitchen pan scourer just as you did very annoying.

I agree. It can be really hard to get them off plastic containers without leaving a mark.

WD40 is brilliant for sticky stuff!

It depends on the glue. you just have to try different things Some comes off easily with water. Some needs meths. Some white spirit.
Double sided sticky tape is a beggar to remove, but seems to come off best with plain cooking oil, which beats a lot of other things.

Its worth trying these different things. All the above is probably lots cheaper than the specially sold remedies.

White spirit is really revolting to use though.

Brasso or Silvo or white spirit usually works

All these things might work - but the darned sticky stuff should not be there in the first place!!

I bought DH 3 t.shirts from Tesco once and they had round stickers on the front of the.shirt. The material was ruined and left a circular mark of a darker colour. Must cost the companies a fortune to sell products that are all returned.

I have used nail polish remover on some sticky label gum, I appreciate that's not suitable for all materials though.

I asked GNetters about this problem a few months ago because I couldn't get the sticker off my new kettle. It's nearly all off!

In future I am going to demand they remove the label in the shop on anything I buy. Quite often the shop sticker is more difficult to remove than the one put on by the manufacturer.

I find lighter fuel gets off most sticky substances and stains, including labels and grease splashes on clothing. I should think I use it about once a week on average so it is worth buying for these purposes.

If you dont have any label remover try a baby wipe it sometimes works.
