My parents lived near a USA transit camp and after the war Dad was building a kitchen and needed a sink so went the the abandoned camp. He found a sink but also a box of chocolate. What a luxury and everyone ate some. They all found out it was Exlax!

It's an internet radio so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get it.

I wonder if I can get that radio program in Australia? I was born in the last year of the war, 1945, so I remember all the songs, the slogans, and rationing, which ended when I was 8.

There's a Christmas edition of Wartime Farm on Tuesday. Unfortunately it clashes with Last Tango in Halifax so I'll have to watch it on iPlayer.

Listen to 1940s Radio at www.1940sukradio.co.uk. They play real radio shows from the 1940s complete with news and adverts. Brilliant music and fascinating to listen to.

I love listening to stories about the War days, about the rations and how it really effected ordinary peoples lives.
