Certainly seems more jollity, long may it last , not really very nice to be horrid .

or taking umbrage where none is particulary intended .

I don't think it's just the Christmas spirit. Perhaps people are just tired of petty bickering generally?

I agree with you. I have felt G.N. has been different recently?. Perhaps it is the christmas spirit but I hope it lasts. smile

A friend said last week as she was weeping over the Christmas cards-several years into widowhood-she said she wished she had been kinder to her husband when he was there. I have taken this to heart in a big way. the red wine for the giblet gravy had gone AWOL and I was told I never knew where anything was etc. Found the bottle in the recycling box but went back in and was really sweet- we must have misunderstood each other-I wasn't making myself clear-I'd used it up on the spiced port'n prunes etc yesterday. It isn't as tho' M&S don't give away a bottle of wine free every week.........and theelder daughter has just sent two! cases of wine. I think she wants something.
So be kind NYR

Arguing in a rational manner is OK too. Disagreeing, even forcefully, is not necessarily nasty.
Shame about the grumpy young things, nanapug.

It seems to me that things have improved on GN recently although I haven't been on all threads. Is it the Christmas spirit coming out?

I don't think that because other forums are worse it gives anyone on GN a reason to be horrid, surely we are all old enough to know that kindness is a better way? smile

Wow, I am on a forum for mainly young mums (not Mumsnet) and if you think it is bad on here you should try the one I am on!! The Mums are soooo argumentative, sarcastic, opinionated (in not a nice way) and so selfish. It has been made clearer to me lately as they are often MiL bashing, related to Christmas gifts and visits. So many of them ask for an opinion and when given it (not by me, I keep my mouth shut!!) argue and slag the person off. It's so sad. So count your blessings girls. We are quite a nice lot really in comparison ;)
