So, we've established that NYE is a bit of a funny time emotionally and that's probably why I'm a bit peeved but -
Dh's brother and his wife (the nearest thing I have to a sister) always come to us on NYE, we have a chat with tea and cakes in the afternoon, a nice meal and a few
in the evening and lunch out on New Year's Day before they go home. We got a phone call at 3.30 saying they were just about to leave home (in York to drive to Leicestershire!!!!) but had a puncture so would be a bit late.
I've been running round like a blue-tailed fly all day so we could sit down and chat at about 3.30 so why didn't they say they would be setting off later than usual.
Sorry, rant over! Not massive in the scheme of things but all the very moving posts today have left me a bit emotional - not like me at all.

. Quote: ' One Boxing Day when they were coming to lunch while Granny was still alive....' . Not realising you were going to clarify that Granny was coming with them, I expected you to say 'By the time they arrived Granny had passed away'.
