Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.
"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.
Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Had a busy day and only just had a peep so it's a lovely surprise to find you here again dear soop
soop glad to 'see' you back. Don't go doing too much, especially when you're obviously looking after Mr. Soop too.
soop all the best for the hospital visits. I had wondered where you were. I had a look at your pictures and am always drawn to the painting of the dog. It looks just like the dog I had when I was a child.
Nice to see you back on here soop
Good wishes to all who have been ill, January can be a b****r of a month.
Saw Les Mis yesterday - just fabulous!
Beautiful day here, so off to visit the beach! But soooo cold. Must find my gloves..
Sun, blue sky, primroses out and off to the beach too.Butty really ought to come to Devon
I haven't seen any primroses in n Somerset yet?
Hello soop good to see you. Hope mr. soop feels better soon.
I have friends coming for a late lunch - the first 'proper' lunch I've done for ages. It's all prepared and now I'm back in bed - horrible soggy snow falling from the skies and no incentive to go out and do anything!
Very cold and bright up north today. going to see GC and hear how youngest did in her first week at pre-school. She is the size of a 5 year old so was probably head and shoulders bigger than some of the children.
Beautiful day here in Southern Thailand near Krabi! Utterly indulgent lazy time with DH, on beach, in pool and on a lounger. Celebrating that birthday!
Shame it will only last a week but will enjoy while it lasts and having seen snow forecast for East Anglia amongst other places we feel happy to have escaped in time!
Lucky you Maggie ,
lots of it eh !
Top of the morning to you lovely lot. After a few days of hard slog in the garden, I'm trying to do a catch-up with what has been going on in your lives. Even though many of us haven't met [in the flesh] so to speak, you are very important to my sense of wellbeing. Now I'm going all soft and soggy!
The Wee Man is with his daddy this weekend. The telephone rang whilst we were still asleep. Mr soop answered it and a little voice said...I've got a Lego crane...what are you doing? I also had a chat with him and that short call, made our day.
Rory, the feral cat, is becoming "well-domesticated". He now spends all day with us. When he came through the door at breakfast-time, he was a soggy moggy. Mr soop dried him with kitchen towel and picked out lumps of bracken from his fur. Can you believe that we're now able to lie down beside him and chat face-to-face? Not so long ago, that would have been unthinkable. I will always have the scars as a reminder of his fierceness.
Kintyre is misty. The islands appear to have been painted in watercolours.
Enjoy your day.
Happy to hear your good news, soop and that a call from Wee Man lifted your spirits
Lovely to hear from you, soop! What a transformation in Rory (I'm guessing you haven't told him about his imminent visit to the vet's yet...!
)
Keep warm, Bags...no snow on our peninsula
Ana In a word...NOPE!
Hi, Soop Top o' the morning? at almost 200pm? I'm one to talk as just 'up' and dressed myself. We had DGD1 for the afternoon and a sleepover last night. DD had organised a 'surprise' 40th party for her friend since playgroup. We went too, leaving at 10pm to bring an overtired GD home. She was asleep in bed in the spare room before 11 but I didn't head for bed till 2am. At 3am there she was 'Granny, Granny, I don't like it in there on my own', so in she squeezed to my SINGLE BED, snuggled up and back to sleep, but tossing, turning, snoring and throwing her arms about. No sleep for me thereafter and by 4am I was up with my jumping legs went back at 4.30 and she was diagonally across the bed, tried to find a corner for me but leg persisted, up again, retired to settee in livingroom. Eventually slept for a bit there and was wakened at 9am by someone trying to open the front door
which was DD coming to collect her DD but the chib was on the door. Then breakfast and much chat about the party. They left and I went back to my own bed for a couple of hours.
Nothing to tempt us out today - intermittent heavy, wet, snow showers and NO! It is not lying
Truthful snow is always the best kind, eh, G23?
Have just emptied various bits and bobs from the freezer and fridge into a soup pot: chicken stock, some stewing pork, bit of cooked chicken, some leftover lamb gravy, various vegetables. DH keeps saying I'm good at soups and broths so I guess this chuck-in-all-the-leftovers approach works.
Some of the best meals come from nothing much
Bags think I'll go and follow your example!
Think I better go and think about the casserole for dinner.. search out the veg etc! Thanks for the timely reminder bags
Had a lovely walk on Capstone Hill in Ilfracombe, then coffee in the Landmark, then wandered over to have a look at Damien Hirst's "Verity", which I think is amazing. Such a beautiful day, calm sea, sunshine....it won't last!
bags I've always called those types of meals 'makey uppy' dinners, which most of mine are, actually
G23 'the chib was on the door' haven't heard that expression in yonks! Love it.
Well I've just gone mad. Done the washing, emptied the dishwasher, put a loaf on Eco in the bread maker and leeks, potatoes celery and a stock cube in the cuisinart. I'm now exhausted!
Still it means I have something simple to eat which should stay down. I haven't been sick since Friday and no diarrhoea, just very very nauseous and giddy. No temperature either so heaven knows what it was.
Mind you I've lost some of that cruise weight!
