Ana...forgot to add that Mother cat [Rory's wifelet] and their tortoiseshell juvenile offspring, come down the track through the copse at dusk. They have learned that, if they sit on top of Rory's apartment, the security light comes on. I go to the window. They wait under a hydrangea bush and re-appear after I leave a couple of dishes of food. Since the pair have been spayed, they appear to be in good health. Neither Mr soop nor I relish the business of getting Rory to the vet for the "snip"...Any offers?

The gardeners have spent a productive 90 mins in our garden. The wind and rain haven't helped, but they still managed to cross off some heavy-duty jobs. By springtime, we should be able to take over where they leave off.
Rory fans may be interested to learn that last night he had a sit-in. We were preparing to make his outdoor apartment comfy for the night-time retreat. The wind was fierce and it was very soggy outdoors. Mr soop went out with a dish of diced chicken. I followed with two freshly aired fleece blankets. Rory sat on the mat and refused to budge. After a few minutes of being blown around, his butler and maid servant gave in and made up his bed by the hearth. So...that's it...Rory is no longer part-time feral. Rory has a proper family home...and he likes it.

Had to share my brilliant day with you all, it 's my 70th. and I've had a fantastic day, our youngest son (who is in the R.A.F.) came with his wife and our 2 Grandchildren, it was so great to see them, had so many special events marred by son being away in war zones, and you try to enjoy things but can't quite , well today I could, we went out and had a lovely meal, had a good chat with all of them, heard how our Granddaughter is doing well on her hairdressing course at college, and that Grandson has just been to see about joining the Army(could have done without that really, but if that is what he wants to do .) Anyway a good time was had by all. Our other son,who lives the other side of the country gave us a call on skype, so we had a chat with him too (next best thing to him being with us too,) Just wanted to share some good news for a change.Hope you all had a good day too
