Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Thank you, Glamma for your message. I shall hasten to read the article in today's Mail on Sunday. smile

Well...our Andy gave his all to match the wonderful Novak. It was a thrilling game. Andy was gracious in defeat - the mark of a true sportsman. I'm exceedingly proud of him.

I just wish to say special thanks to Oldgreymare for one of the loveliest PM's I've ever received. flowers

Granjura just to ket you know I have tried your black cherry trifle recipe - really delicious. I'm going to make it again next weekend for DD2's 30th birthday dinner smile

janeainsworth Sat 26-Jan-13 21:40:27

Kitty That must have been horrid for you - how tactless. Surely they could have said they were updating the records first.

granjura Sat 26-Jan-13 21:25:22

Winter wonderland today, and I went to the 'Fete du froid' in a small valley near hear that looks like a Siberian tundra, peat bogs, peat lake. Watched the huskies and the mushers, and had a horse sleigh ride with all the bells jingling - then some 'vin chaud' and a roast sausage on the frozen lake. Lovely.

I have had a wonderful day out with DD and DGD1! We had a leisurely breakfast in town, shopped and shopped, then finished with lunch at a lovely pub overlooking the water. (DH is away at a conference) Then I snoozed....may go to bed in a minute! I am so happy, though I am exhausted, and I have to drive up to Hampshire tomorrow. smile moon Night night, all.

Butty Sat 26-Jan-13 15:50:30

Exactly, when. He doesn't have the 'smooze' gene - and all the better for that!

kittylester Sat 26-Jan-13 14:58:33

I went to see my mum yesterday and was a little taken aback when one of the carers asked whether we had chosen a funeral director. Seeing my shocked face she added that they were just updating their records. Mum was as b****y minded as ever so I think there is no cause for concern. smile

whenim64 Sat 26-Jan-13 14:07:14

True Butty. His monotonous dour tone when speaking to TV interviewers used to leave me feeling he was not likeable, till I realised it was his response to monotonous questions! grin

Butty Sat 26-Jan-13 13:52:22

Andy's always been top for me. A misunderstood young man I think, who is growing and maturing into a wonderful sportsman. More to him than meets the eye! smile

soop Sat 26-Jan-13 13:44:38

when Federer is a [gorgeous] gentleman through and through and one of my favourite players...I also liked Pete Sampras...and I've a soft spot for Rafa. Andy is certainly maturing, I believe Lendl is the ideal coach for him. When Andy smiles, I could hug him. Let's hope that we'll see that smile tomorrow. smile smile smile

whenim64 Sat 26-Jan-13 13:33:41

I'll be watching, too! Murray is going from strength to strength, although I have always really liked Federer.

soop Sat 26-Jan-13 13:33:20

anno It's the excitement that does it. Any other GN's joining us for the final? Fun-time cometh!...

annodomini Sat 26-Jan-13 13:28:44

Evidently doubly sorry. I checked that post twice and still it went double. Dammit!

annodomini Sat 26-Jan-13 13:26:05

Sorry, soop, I hope you don't mind my accidental elongation of your name!

annodomini Sat 26-Jan-13 13:25:25

annodomini Sat 26-Jan-13 13:24:28

Nice to know we shall be watching it together sooop and Butty. I'll probably be in my red fleece PJs again. Cosy but not a pretty sight.

soop Sat 26-Jan-13 12:52:40

Butty Yep, I shall be curled up in my favourite chair, wearing cosy, comfy clothes. A pot of tea and Scottish shortbread at the ready. Rory dozing on his special cushion. Mr soop reading the Sunday papers. A match between these two young men, promises to be a marvellous treat. I hope that it goes to five sets. I shall give you a special thought if Andy wins the title. Go, Andy, go......! grin

Butty Sat 26-Jan-13 12:32:15

soop and anno - .......and we have tomorrow morning to come! I'll be watching Andy and Novak in front of the wood burner, munching toast, wearing sweatshirt and leggings. January weather will be forgotten. sunshine. Hope you both enjoy your Sunday morning, too. Come on Andy........!

soop Sat 26-Jan-13 12:16:39

anno I was hoarse by the end of the match. Had to have a wee dram to celebrate Andy's win. Shall be rooted to my chair tomorrow morning. What a treat! I love watching Novak and Andy strut their stuff. I miss dear Rafa. Anyone who thinks that tennis is a wimps game, couldn't be more wrong.

Twinkle Toes I'm pleased to hear that your sister-in-law is well enough to receive visitors. Your smile will light up the ward. sunshine

annodomini Fri 25-Jan-13 22:25:07

I spent the entire morning in my PJs in front of the TV, watching Andy Murray beating Roger Federer. I couldn't move except to make another brew. However, I redeemed myself in the afternoon by going out for a swim. There were only two other people swimming, and I had the jacuzzi and steam room all to myself.

whenim64 Fri 25-Jan-13 21:49:43

Glad to hear it Marelli. I hope she'll be up and about very soon x

Elegran Fri 25-Jan-13 21:46:33

That is good to hear, Marelli.

Marelli Fri 25-Jan-13 21:44:10

Sister-in-law a good bit better today! Going to see her tomorrow afternoon. smile

Oldgreymare Fri 25-Jan-13 18:45:47

I agree Marelli so many lovely ladies here..... a few nice birds too smile
