Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Glamma I can't find the article to which you refer. Can you help, please?

annodomini Sun 27-Jan-13 14:45:18

soop, it was a good match, though after the second set tie break, it looked as if it was almost a done deal. Disappointing, but Djokovic must be the only player in the world who can do that to Andy at the moment. They say Nadal will be back next month!

soop Sun 27-Jan-13 14:50:37

anno My emotions were well and truly spent long before the end of the match. Novak is a well-worthy-winner. Andy fought with all his might. He did his best. He was gracious in defeat. His turn will come. Rafa is unique. Love him to bits. smile

Tegan Sun 27-Jan-13 14:53:55

I can only echo what Butty has said; maturing physically and mentally and now has the whole country behind him. I love Rafa; he's been my favourite for years but he's getting even more injury prone [if that was possible]. Wish I'd seen the match today [didn't wake up blush.]

soop Sun 27-Jan-13 14:57:32

Oh, Tegan...that's such a shame.

Tegan Sun 27-Jan-13 15:01:40

Well, I did wake up several times but then went back to sleep again. I've got a couple of weeks off after tomorrow and I think I need to do a gransnet thread to make myself get up and get cracking; I'm a devil for rolling over and sleeping through the day if I don't have to get up and I've got a lot to do with my time off.

Butty Sun 27-Jan-13 15:05:42

Singles tennis is so.... gladiatorial, isn't it! A wonderful match. Novak deserved to win, with Andy a worthy opponent. What a pairing. Next time, Andy....[hurrah emoticon]

Butty Sun 27-Jan-13 15:06:55

Enjoy your time off Tegan - rolling over and going back to sleep sounds like to good way to kick off with...... smile

Tegan Sun 27-Jan-13 15:17:24

Certainly the most gladiatorial of sports, which is why it's so important to have the crowd behind you. Mind you, I feel the same way about my racing; when everyone on the course is willing a horse to win it's as if they grow wings. Mind you, doesn't work with England at football, does it sad.

Tegan Sun 27-Jan-13 15:19:40

I need a dog that's desperate for a walk first thing in the morning. Me and the whippety thing both slept for 13 hours on the sofa. Each time I woke up we looked at each other and just nodded off again!

Had to share my brilliant day with you all, it 's my 70th. and I've had a fantastic day, our youngest son (who is in the R.A.F.) came with his wife and our 2 Grandchildren, it was so great to see them, had so many special events marred by son being away in war zones, and you try to enjoy things but can't quite , well today I could, we went out and had a lovely meal, had a good chat with all of them, heard how our Granddaughter is doing well on her hairdressing course at college, and that Grandson has just been to see about joining the Army(could have done without that really, but if that is what he wants to do .) Anyway a good time was had by all. Our other son,who lives the other side of the country gave us a call on skype, so we had a chat with him too (next best thing to him being with us too,) Just wanted to share some good news for a change.Hope you all had a good day too grin.

JAB lovely day! Happy birthday; we have just spent the afternoon and early evening with most of our family here in Hampshire. Well worth me driving from Devon and DH from Loughborough, to see our DC and DGC. Two cars heading down the 303 tomorrow - so not very
green, but with very happy occupants!

Like you, we will glow for the next few days!

The gardeners have spent a productive 90 mins in our garden. The wind and rain haven't helped, but they still managed to cross off some heavy-duty jobs. By springtime, we should be able to take over where they leave off.

Rory fans may be interested to learn that last night he had a sit-in. We were preparing to make his outdoor apartment comfy for the night-time retreat. The wind was fierce and it was very soggy outdoors. Mr soop went out with a dish of diced chicken. I followed with two freshly aired fleece blankets. Rory sat on the mat and refused to budge. After a few minutes of being blown around, his butler and maid servant gave in and made up his bed by the hearth. So...that's it...Rory is no longer part-time feral. Rory has a proper family home...and he likes it. smile

Ana Mon 28-Jan-13 12:18:49

Lovely, soop! smile

glassortwo Mon 28-Jan-13 12:20:54

Aww soop smile sensible Rory.

soop Mon 28-Jan-13 12:30:59

Ana...forgot to add that Mother cat [Rory's wifelet] and their tortoiseshell juvenile offspring, come down the track through the copse at dusk. They have learned that, if they sit on top of Rory's apartment, the security light comes on. I go to the window. They wait under a hydrangea bush and re-appear after I leave a couple of dishes of food. Since the pair have been spayed, they appear to be in good health. Neither Mr soop nor I relish the business of getting Rory to the vet for the "snip"...Any offers? hmm

soop Mon 28-Jan-13 12:32:23

glass He is so "with it"...
