Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Nellie how sad. Poor Barry and poor you. flowers

A bad start. I have just found my pretty little lemon yellow budgie Daisy dead on the floor! Not what you want to find first thing in the morning.

His "partner" Barry is up on top of the curtains very quiet.
I know they are not long lived creatures but its still sad. Now Barry is going to feel lonely, as he is about 4 yrs younger than Daisy and seemed to treat Daisy as a parent. Budgies get very well bonded to each other.

I caught the "budgie habit" from my daughters first one. 27 years ago. sad sad

Drove five hours to D1's house in the heat, the temperature rose to 43c (109.4f) along the way, but wasn't too bad with the air conditioner. Arrived and straight into putting loads of washing away. D1 and SIL have found a house they want to buy so theirs has to go on the market immediately. I wonder why after having a month off over Christmas, knowing they wanted to sell their house sometime this year they didn't get on with some home repairs and start to get organised, just in case. confused

Today I went to my first patchwork quilting class and it was great. I made cushion cover, not earth shattering I know, but I am very pleased with it. I used a lovely new machine and I came away with a severe case of sewing machine envy. However I have googled the make and model number of my machine and lo and behold I can get all the necessary attachments to fit it.
That is the good news.
When I got home I had a message from Barclays. Someone has made purchases on my debit card and Barclays became suspicious. They did deal with efficiently and my card is cancelled and a new one is on the way. Hey ho!

Must admit that I mostly go to out of town shopping centres. I haven't shopped in Manchester for about ten years. If I had to go there I'd use the train.

harrigran Wed 16-Jan-13 21:40:23

No I don't either glass when I have been with ours.

Westfield car park; to get in it's like going up a spiral staircase [a very narrow one at that]. And the kerb on each side is high as well. Made me feel a bit claustrophobic confused.

glassortwo Wed 16-Jan-13 21:36:56

harri after a day with the GC I have my Pjs on as soon as its dark grin I cant do evening shopping.

harrigran Wed 16-Jan-13 21:31:30

glass I always shop in Newcastle after 5pm and park on top of John Lewis. The shops are that much quieter and I seem to whizz round smile

glassortwo Wed 16-Jan-13 21:29:18

crimson I will never go back into Newcastle to park again, I went in to return a Christmas Present...slippers which were too small from DH, we have just been together 40 years and my feet havent changed in that time, but never mind.... I was in just over 1 hour and it was £5.70 if I go to the Metro Centre its free.... no wonder our Town Centers are dying.

Went into town [don't go often these days] and went into complete meltdown when I got to my usual car park and found it had closed down confused. Then went to Building Society and, halfway through asking a question forgot what I was going to say so had to stop and rethink blush. I told the cashier that it was just like a maths exam I did when I was 16; everything just went blank. Couldn't work out where a £20 note had gone until it dawned on me that I'd been to Waterstones [panic because I'd borrowed it from my works float]. Went to Boots and kept forgetting things that I meant to buy [even though I had a list with me]. I am turning into a complete dithery old lady sad. At least had the sense to write down where I had parked in new multi storey car park that I'd never had the courage to use before [Red M Level 4 wink]. Asked for my Boots card to be changed to an over 60 one and no one asked for proof of age [sob]. Oh and, yet again gave up with trying to buy something from M&S because I couldn't face the wait in the [usual] long queue. And had to pay 80 pence at the station car park because I went in to enquire about buying a train ticket that will cost me a fortune, moaning at the time to the unfortunate bloke that was standing behind me.

How did it get to be 9.35 and I'm still on GN? I have things to do - can't quite remember what, though!

annodomini Tue 15-Jan-13 21:33:29

I realised that the quotation marks were there J0. And thank you for your appreciation. smile

jeni Tue 15-Jan-13 21:33:02

ROSE return to your fragrant rather than prickly mode ! Pretty please?

Ana Tue 15-Jan-13 21:32:39

Anyone following the thread would have known where jingl's quote came from - she obviously wasn't claiming the writing as her own! Lighten up, folks...hmm

j07 Tue 15-Jan-13 21:29:54

What?!! Don't patronise me!!!

I thought most people on here would recognise simple punctuation marks. hmm

Read the posts more carefully.

Grannylin Tue 15-Jan-13 19:40:38

Good girl j07smile

j07 Tue 15-Jan-13 19:38:51

Oh! Sorry anno! Have only just looked back at this.

Right peeps, you know those little commas in the air? (" ") Well, they are quotation marks. Ok? It means that the stuff in between them is a quotation. You following?

In this instance, it was annodomini who said it. I was appreciating it.

hmm

annodomini Tue 15-Jan-13 19:31:58

Ummm - jingl - you might at least give me an attribution. everyone else, please see my post at 16:31:05.
