I came home after lunch, to find my kitchen filling up with a dust cloud!
Next door's builders were drilling a large vent hole through the outside wall, and all the brick dust was being sucked into my boiler vent!

When I opened the cupboard door, it came rolling out and covered all my kitchen surfaces in red dust!
I went out and asked the man with the big drill (no smutty remarks please), what was happening and he just said............"hope I haven't come through your wall!"

You know that gritty feeling.................

I did wonder about rats but still don't understand how the pile of compost was so far from the bin and so neat. I'd be surprised if I didn't have rats there though, and I'm sure that someone [might have been pompa?] said not to put eggshells in compost cause it encouraged them. Haven't been out tonight to see what's happened today.

Well I have put the house back in order after having the house full since the 10th December, the quiet is lovely and the floors are clean and every surface is clear....... how many toys can a 4 and 6 yr old get but its all up into their rooms and I can now have a little bit of me time

We had foxes in our compost.. the bins were the slatted wood type sited behind the garden shed and the foxes made a den under one of them and raised 5 cubs!

Have yet to set up compost bins in new garden!

Hate to mention it crimson but could it be rats!! I've been told that rats/mice sometimes nest in compost bins because of the heat generated. Compost bin best sited on a mesh base on solid ground.

Oh, kitty, what a shame. It has to be the dreaded noro, doesn't it. Take it easy, little sips of water and probably no corned beef hash.

Ella I wasn't very well yesterday - all achy and shivery. DH said he'd cook (from his enormous repertoire) and chose corned beef hash, not my favourite by a long chalk. As I felt a bit better, I had a little. Big mistake, as I discovered at 3 am, 3.30, 4.00 etc. Not his fault, norovirus is rife at mum's home - but nevertheless

Well done baggy. I found someone to go bike riding with. I was enjoying riding every morning and late afternoon while I was in Brisbane but it's very different here, lots of gravelly dirt roads, speeding trucks etc. It looks like there might be a way I can ride to the river and ride along there. I won't be riding for a while in the hot temperatures over here though.

Beat my PB at yesterday's archery tournament . Earned myself a spider badge.

Thank you all for the lovely messages. Not been ill for a long while Jess but I had norovirus in November and a cold round Christmas. I suspect I've got a weedy version of the flu, having had a jab at some point. The latter end of last year was a bit of a challenge - two weddings, three children moving and the ongoing problems with Mum - I think my body is making me sit down!!

Still, all is ok, DH is currently making corned beef hash. Lovely, if you like corned beef hash!

Pre birthday lunch, but they are all back at school tomorrow, DD included.

Have been to a lovely, boozy birthday lunch at DD's, had a long nap and feel much better! Have also realised that we put the bunk bed mattresses (due for replacement) on the spare room beds when we moved, hence the discomfort. All problems solved.

Most odd thing has just happened. Went into the garden where I have two compost bins side by side [you know the black ones with a door at the bottom]. The door on one of them had come off; probably hadn't slotted it in properly and the weight of the compost had pushed it open. But, this is the odd bit. The compost hadn't just spilled out around that bin but was also spread around the other side of the second compost bin. Maybe the dog had realised there were scraps of food in it and dug her way into the compost but that wouldn't have moved it into a pile three feet away on the other side of a solid object. I'm totally bemused . What was interesting was that there were lots of eggshells and orange peel. Must make a point of not putting them in the compost bin in future. [Had the dog dug through the compost with her front paws it would have gone backwards not sideways, and the pile was quite neat. Hmmm; time for a coffee I think.

kitty havent you been ill for a while now? (or am I confused?) Have you contacted your doctor?

Hope you soon feel better, kitty - keep up the fluids, even if it does mean more loo trips. .
