Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Well chocolate didn't work (only two Ferreros, left over from my b'day). Onto veg crisps and fruit tea now in lieu of dinner. Beginning to feel better.

Hey, anno, I hope it isn't the tooth that was giving you grief not so long ago!

annodomini Fri 04-Jan-13 17:03:46

In freezer: out of sight out of mind out of mouth. You probably wouldn't understand, Bags, but plenty of other G'netters would. wink
Yes, baubles, it was semi-frozen. Lasts longer in the mouth that way.
I'm glad you saw sense and gave up the struggle to work - it's just not worthwhile. With any luck, a quiet weekend will make all the difference.

kittylester Fri 04-Jan-13 16:42:45

Cadbury's Flakes straight from the freezer are fabulous!! smile

Bags Fri 04-Jan-13 16:41:37

baubles flowers Take it easy until you feel better. They'll just have to lump it at work.

Bags Fri 04-Jan-13 16:40:41

Chocolate. In the freezer! Why? It would never occur to me to put chocolate in a freezer. confused

Ella46 Fri 04-Jan-13 16:37:54

Ana I always wear rubber gloves! grin

baubles Fri 04-Jan-13 16:37:39

Was that because it was frozen Anno? (The chocolate)

I went to work this morning but felt so wabbit that I came home to have a duvet afternoon.

nonnasusie Fri 04-Jan-13 16:35:13

Took the family back to the airport after their week long stay. We had 10 days in Manchester then some of them came back with us!! The house seems awefully quiet now and the dogs can't understand where everyone has gone!!

annodomini Fri 04-Jan-13 16:29:23

This was the darkest chocolate available, soop! Now I have holes in teeth on both sides. sad

Ana Fri 04-Jan-13 16:28:54

Yes, Marelli, they all do that on adverts - sort of throw it in...hmm

Ana Fri 04-Jan-13 16:27:46

Mine are softer (because I never do any washing-up) Ella! grin

Marelli Fri 04-Jan-13 16:27:04

Don't you think that the Galaxy girl puts the piece of chocolate far too far into the back of her mouth? That's NOT how you eat chocolate grin - it sits on the tongue, then tips to the side as you make room for more wink !

Ella46 Fri 04-Jan-13 16:22:43

soop Glad you like the pics smile

If Mr soop should catch the lurgy, please don't hesitate to let Ana and I know and we'll hotfoot it up to yours and look after him for you wink

I'm sure it would be much too much for you to manage at your great age, and we are both younger [really cheeky emoticon] grin grin and I have very soft hands!

wink

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 12:58:31

...and now it's back. hmm

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 12:57:41

Ella I'm certain that I posted a message telling you that I enjoyed looking at your album. smile Appears to have gone on a walkabout. confused

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 12:42:24

anno that's so unfair! The girl who advertises Galaxy...the one who hides a bar from her flat mates, always looks as if she's about to be be sick. Such a shame. I love chocolate, 'though I prefer the darkest there is.

annodomini Fri 04-Jan-13 12:37:45

Today I raided the freezer and found some dark chocolate I'd hidden from myself. Chomped on a chunk and removed a filling from a wisdom tooth. How's that for justice?

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 11:46:54

Welcome home again gracesmum. Your message brought a tear to my. flowers
This afternoon we're celebrating a good pal's 72nd birthday. Always a treat to meet up with local village friends. wine

gracesmum Fri 04-Jan-13 11:41:25

We have been in Poole/Bournemouth since New Year and drove back yesterday afternoon. On the way home we took flowers to DH's parents' and grandparents' and our baby boy's grave in Ringwood - so he is not alone. He would be 40 this year - but you still shed a tear don't you?We had a lovely new Year's Day Viennese Gala at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and then met up with friends for lunch yesterday whom I see maybe once a year as it's a long way and both of them have been quite poorly recently. I was exhausted and ready for bed - too late to collect Grace from kennels so I could have an early night without having to do the bedtime walkie first!

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 11:30:52

harri and baubles so sorry that you've been stricken by the lurgy. flowers
My ex-husband tells us that his partner went down with the same thing on Christmas Eve. She is usually fizzing with energy. She remains very poorly and confined to her bed. So far, our villagers have been spared. Should mr soop be smitten, we're in for a whole package of problems. Chest infections become so bad that he has to take steroids...
Get well soon. sunshine

soop Fri 04-Jan-13 11:21:43

Ella I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your album. I'm convinced that your wee granddaughter would be the perfect match with our wee man...let's say in twenty years from now! smile

Ella46 Fri 04-Jan-13 10:31:08

Last night I was inspired by soops ability with photos on her profile (see Lil's Bar 3/4 thread wink ), so I spent ages deleting all mine, putting new ones up and resizing and naming them!
Much better!

RINKY Thu 03-Jan-13 21:01:29

Yeah, it's nice to have the time to think of yourself sometimes isn't it?
And the motto is definitely one to go by at our age. Boy do we deserve it and are worth everything we can squeeze out of the next few years! Whoo hoo what's next?

Grannylin Thu 03-Jan-13 20:21:35

You deserve it Rinky-it's my new motto for 2013!

RINKY Thu 03-Jan-13 20:01:01

I trawl the house selling sites a lot and am astonished at how often pics are taken with seat up. Horrible. I always put lid down too, discourages GC from dropping things down!!
Having quiet day in Toronto today. Everyone a bit worn out. DiL and two year old having afternoon nap. Son out with 4 year old tobogganing. I have the Peddlers on to listen to. Anyone remember them? My favourite turn at the small night club we visited in my late teens and twenties.
Have booked massage for tomorrow as went bowling the other night for the first time in twenty years. Felt good at the time and did not disgrace myself but my right hip and right hand have suffered since. On long plane journey and then train on Sunday so think a good massage will set me up ok.
After 16 years of giving massage to all and sundry have finally decided I want them more often too.
