Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Seems not. He's a persistent blighter, bless 'im.

Galen Sun 10-Feb-13 13:16:14

Doesn't he realise that battle was over a long time ago?

Bags Sun 10-Feb-13 13:14:10

Meanwhile Mr Bags is off shooting arrows at Bannockburn again.

Found my flour spilling technique is up to scratch as well. The biscuits are good though. DD took three. I said: "Three!? shock". She said: "I need to eat three to be sure." atagirl! [grin

Don't need lessons, Bags I've studied that closely for years, and passed all the exams.

When I was a child in married army quarters, a young officer, newly married, was billetted with us until a house was available for them. His favourite snack was bread and chocolate spread, but he was quite unable to spread it without getting himself, the table and the floor all sticky. His doting wife would spread it for him and all but feed it to him. However, he seemed able to spread golden syrup OK. None of us could understand it.

Maybe the choc spread routine was a private fetish.

I did that with honey, Bags......hot spoon, jar at the ready, scoop with right hand and fling it across the kitchen with left elbow! Caught the dog in the process grin

Bags Sun 10-Feb-13 12:08:04

If anyone needs a lesson in how to measure golden syrup and get it all over the kitchen at the same time, apply to The Bagsabode. <returns to kitchen stickily>

When DS2 was in the school football team (and leading goal scorer!!) he would go to bed on Friday nights wearing all his football kit, including boots and pads, just in case he overslept! grin

When GD1 was tiny we took her to buy wellies, when she got home she insisted on wearing them. Just out of nappies, she had an accident and weed in her wellies. Gave a whole new meaning to fill your boots grin

I had an unexpected visit from my son and his lovely girlfriend, as they live over 80 miles away we see them once a month or so. Had a great catch up over dinner smile

Butty Sat 09-Feb-13 23:00:40

Galen and B - smile's for both. Love it when kids embrace such simple stuff.

Galen Sat 09-Feb-13 21:01:05

grin

Bags Sat 09-Feb-13 20:57:48

galen, that sory reminds me of when GS had a new raincoat. He insisted on wearing it even when it was sunny. DD tried to persuade him to wear something else but gave up when he declared: "I love dat one!"

JessM Sat 09-Feb-13 20:44:51

Maniac Sat 09-Feb-13 20:18:12

harrigran Sat 09-Feb-13 17:40:38

Went out for lunch and reached Ponteland in record time. Nothing like a Newcastle match on the TV at lunchtime to empty the roads grin

Galen Sat 09-Feb-13 15:07:34

Know the feeling.smile

Ariadne Sat 09-Feb-13 15:06:14

Thanks, Galen, but don't think it's gout - Theseus has that sometimes. I actually think I must have tweaked it somehow during the night, because it's OK now. I do know the other one's arthritic. Falling apart! smile

Galen Sat 09-Feb-13 14:48:19

hmm

Stansgran Sat 09-Feb-13 14:10:06

The first comment was advice to Galen.

Borrow paper knickers from theatre. Sun shine here sky blue . M&S sent me a voucher for £5. Printer suddenly decided it would work. Decided to do some Autumn leaf sweeping to encourage DH to find the door into the garden. Then there was this funny gabbling noise. High high up in the blue sky three vast skeins of geese traveling north. Too high to be going to Washington Wildfowl Park so perhaps heading back to the Arctic. Suddenly felt and heard Pippa'sSong going round in my head .Alls right with the world spring is on the way

Galen Sat 09-Feb-13 13:28:35

Ariadne are you sure it's arthritis and not gout? If its hot red swollen and very painful it could be gout!
Treatment is roughly the same in acute attack anyway but long term management is different.

Well I had a lovely duvet morning, just interrupted by

8.am John lewis delivery

8.10 amazon sign for parcel

9am delivery of my new crockpot ( which I can't unpack as its too bulky)

10am post with packets of tribunal files, too big to go through letter box!

12 gave up and got up and dressed!

I have now tidied the kitchen after the large meal I cooked last night! Beans on toast. Put a load of undies in to soak as washihing machine is still defunct and I don't fancy going commando this weather?

soop Sat 09-Feb-13 12:24:45

Bags Good for you. grin
I'm sorry to hear that many of you are feeling below par. If you can, try to take things easy.
