Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Poor you, Ariadne. I do hope the knee is a blip and recovers quickly. I once had the same thing happen out of the blue and after a couple of weeks it went away and never recurred. Good luck with it.
The weather is horrid this morning and I am shelving my shopping plans which weren't urgent anyway. Rain changed to sleet and sleet now has more snow in it. There should be some rugby on the box this afternoon.grin
Grandcats gave me the runaround last night. They would come up to the cat flap when summoned and run away again, taunting me! In the end I left them to it and found them slumbering so peacefully this morning that they didn't even budge at the mention of food.

Ariadne Sat 09-Feb-13 10:33:05

Got it drugged into submission! The knee, I mean. Think I was a bit early morning weepy. Jess it is very difficult to cosset Theseus - more a matter of nagging him into restraint! I pointed out yesterday, when he was talking about exercise, that going up and down stairs seven or eight times was not bad going.

Thank you, everyone. Yes, time for spring, isn't it?

Bags Sat 09-Feb-13 09:39:58

Managed to sort out my Asda problem. No-one was answering the customer services phone and the jingle on the recorded message was driving me demented. So I rang head office and got to speak to nice man straight away. He's sending me a voucher for the Red Leicester cheese that looks as if it has been trodden on, the broken apple pie, and the oven-fresh yum yums that were not fresh. Result! smile

Yes, there's quite a lot left, gaga (Mr Bags won't have any because he's off lentils (long story); see how devious I am? wink No, really, I've made him some mushroom soup instead). Sending a virtual flask of it in your direction right now. Enjoy smile and take care of that chest.

Gagagran Sat 09-Feb-13 07:46:05

What a lot we are with our various incapacities. I was up at 4.30 coughing and wheezing and hoping that the meds. start to ease things today. Am so glad I didn't do my usual trick of putting off visiting the Doc. (Really have to gee myself up for that - I hate it)I hope you and Theseus manage to hop along together today Ariadne and your knee improves rapidly.Maniac hope the tum probs ease too.

I think we are all in need of spring now - it has felt a long and miserable winter.
flowers for all in sick bay and smile for all well-wishers. Thanks.

Any of that delicious sounding soup left Bags? Sounds just what I could do with right now!

JessM Sat 09-Feb-13 06:59:32

Sounds like theseus doing well. His physios would probably think it a great idea if he has to look after you. They disapprove of too much cosseting I'm sure.
Hope the pill kicks in and you can have a bit of a snooze.
Hi maniac hope you enjoyed the concert.

Bags Sat 09-Feb-13 06:57:36

I hope the pain is subsiding a bit now, ariadne. It can get you down, I know. flowers

Ariadne Sat 09-Feb-13 06:50:23

Yes! Have taken one of the prescription anti-inflammatories - Naproxyn - which I only take when I really have to. So we'll see. It's just worrying, with poor old Theseus only a week into recovery. But thanks - knew someone would be around for me!

Maniac will go and find my wheat pad. in a minute...

JessM Sat 09-Feb-13 06:40:02

Aw you poor love. Maybe internal ibuprofen called for on this occasion? absorbing pain relief through the skin a slow process. You still there?

Maniac Sat 09-Feb-13 06:39:40

Ariadne I'm up also.Had a restless night.Woke at 5.30 with belly ache and flatulence .Now sipping peppermint tea.
Sorry about your knee.Hope it's better soon.I've had OA in rt knee for 4 yrs
Had an energetic evening going to concert in Bristol -steep hills and steps.
Back to bed with my heated wheat cushion.

Ariadne Sat 09-Feb-13 05:48:07

Today I woke up at about 4.00 sad I really tried to get back to sleep but in the end went down to get a drink, and my right knee was suddenly shot with pain. (It's the left knee that is arthritic.) it actually brought tears to my eyes!

So, have applied Iboprufen gel, and am lying here in the spare room waiting for it to take effect. With Theseus on crutches, one of us has to be in reasonable working order! Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I think, and quite tearful. Sorry.

Butty Fri 08-Feb-13 18:30:47

Indeed it would be special and wonderful! Once this house is sold........@fingerscrossedemoticon smile

soop Fri 08-Feb-13 18:23:20

Bags Fri 08-Feb-13 18:14:16

Butty Fri 08-Feb-13 18:09:07

I'm warning you two - I'll be helicoptering in one of these days years!

Bags Fri 08-Feb-13 17:34:01

Soop, let's do it! pm-ing you smile

soop Fri 08-Feb-13 17:06:28

Bags that would be brilliant. He goes in on Mon 18th and was told he'd stay put for "a few days". I no longer drive. I could make Inveraray by bus. smile
And yes, the hair cut is very flattering. I've been trimming my fringe with nail scissors. The hairdresser was un impressed. shock

Bags Fri 08-Feb-13 16:21:49

Glad you got that treatment and are feeling a bit better, gaga. flowers

Wish I had a helicopter (with pilot) at my disposal, soop, and I'd pop over and see you while Mr Soop is away. What days is he away?

Bags Fri 08-Feb-13 16:09:08

Hope that was good, soop smile

That lentil and tomato (and carrot and onion and celery) soup I made from the beef knuckle bone marrow stock is quite possibly the smoothest and most delicious soup EVAH!

(I suppose it was a beef bone) hmm

Delicious is the important bit.

Ariadne Fri 08-Feb-13 13:53:28

soop grin
