Made some bread, made some lentil soup, sawed, lopped and yanked a couple of dozen rhododendron branches off and shredded them, pulled a muscle in the process, divested self of wet muddy clothing including wool gloves topped by industrial strength rubber gloves, and the other paraphernalia of keeping warm and dry in Scotland in winter, showered, put a wash on, made coffee, sat down with feet up.

"Nufff d-d-day, I fink!" as DD used to say when she was two.

Still have to wash-up and make dinner but I'm slobbing until that cannot be put off any longer.

Had farewell lunch with DD today, she is on the red-eye flight in the morning and back to work in Brussels before lunchtime. Great shame that we did not get to do much because we all have this chest infection.

jeni Tue 08-Jan-13 07:58:46

I didn't realise this hour existed. I'm only up because I have to go to Newport and they start early.
Too early!
Have a good day all!

Nanado Tue 08-Jan-13 08:55:51

Bit confused today. Had a dream last night that someone had given me some goldfish to look after and, with Christmas and everything I'd forgotten to feed them. Found myself in the kitchen looking for these goldfish. Not absolutely certain that I didn't just dream the whole thing but pretty sure that I did actually go downstairs in a panic. Given that I must have walked downstairs half asleep and in the dark is rather a worry. I had ate too much before I went to bed and there was an [obscure] reason for having that particular dream but still slightly concerned about it. The dream did continue later on and I did find the fish and they were still alive [albeit in the microwave confused]. Am I going bonkers sad?

annodomini Tue 08-Jan-13 13:48:56

No, not bonkers crimson, unless I am too. I dreamt that someone had left me a kitten to look after, though it had a face like a pug puppy! The 'thing' escaped and led me upstairs and downstairs and through offices in one of which I eventually cornered it and took it back to my room.
Well, Dr Freud?

Butty Tue 08-Jan-13 13:55:05

Nanado smile + envy

Elegran Tue 08-Jan-13 14:29:01

From my position of knowing absolutely nothing about dream interpretation I would say that there is an element in both your dreams of being responsible for some helpless thing and not believing that you are up to it. Grandchildren?

glassortwo Tue 08-Jan-13 14:31:56

Or a partner?

Ella46 Tue 08-Jan-13 21:59:18

I went to John Lewis today to inspect the Dyson cleaner that lots of you have been testing.
I was very happy to discover that it was £50 cheaper than the price quoted by Dyson, so I bought one. Get it on Thursday.

I think I've finally grown up grin

Ana Tue 08-Jan-13 22:09:42

Ella, I'd love to get one too, but having won the Hoover Globe last year I feel obliged to use the thing - haven't got it out of its box yet! grin

Nanado Wed 09-Jan-13 14:47:27

I know butty ... Hard work but love every moment with them smile

Ella46 Wed 09-Jan-13 16:51:50

Ana can't you sell it?

Ana Wed 09-Jan-13 16:57:58

I might try the local paper. I wouldn't know how to go about delivery charges etc. on e-bay - it's very heavy!

Ella46 Wed 09-Jan-13 17:00:18

Worth a try smile

Ana Wed 09-Jan-13 17:02:38

Yes (I hope GNHQ don't see this - ungrateful or what! shock) grin

Ella46 Wed 09-Jan-13 17:09:24

Well, I put on the Dyson thread that it was cheaper in John Lewis blush

Not bovvered grin

Drove up to London yesterday for a meeting with a colleague from KwaZuluNatal, then back two hours later. We had almost seized up by the time we stopped for a meal back here in Bideford! But we were reminded of why we moved when we got home to clean air and the lights on the quay. Today was a slooow day! And it will soon be bedtime.moon
