Hello Phoenix,
thanks for the thought dear girl.
I tried to use the IOU in a local shop and they would not accept it as said it was a forgery!
I stalked out in disgust. How dare they, it was a genuine level"A" IOU
from Lil's bar!! Philistines!!

So sorry Gramps, don`t know how I missed this. Many Happy Returns of the Day for yesterday!

gramps Thu 17-Jan-13 23:30:43

Thank you dear friends for your kind wishes.
I think that age is in the mind. if you can keep yourself young in mind and spirit; that will help keeping the body going too. (Says he hopefully!) lol.

I don't think you're asking too much Greatnan. I fully expect you to be climbing mountains, snorkelling, and posting on here when you're 100! How many of the rest of us will be here is another matter. But I know we can rely on you to keep the young whippersnappers in place grin

gillybob Thu 17-Jan-13 11:26:02

Who you callin' stroppy j07 ???? grin

Movedalot Thu 17-Jan-13 11:20:05

On the radio yesterday I heard someone say '70 is the new 50'. I'm looking forward to it.

Greatnan Thu 17-Jan-13 10:54:42

My oldest daughter is 50 this year - she made me a grandmother when I was 42 and her daughter-in-law did the same to her. My sister was a grandmother at 37 and a great grandmother at 56, which made me a great great aunt. That sounds older than great grandmother!
I don't mind being 72, except that I am still having such a great life I want it to last for another 30 years, which is probably asking a bit too much!

j07 Thu 17-Jan-13 09:52:01

I think the younger ones are more inclined to be stroppy. (not all of them though smile)

I wonder if that is because they used Mumsnet before GN was invented, and therefore developed a harder shell?

(I am not one of the younger ones of course smile)

PRINTMISS Thu 17-Jan-13 09:27:17

Printmiss is indeed 80 (almost 81!). but the number of years I have lived has nothing to do with how I feel. Sometimes I do feel really old, others I have to remind myself how old I am (that's when I climb the ladder to put the curtains up, or try to lift something too heavy). The computer is good for me, it keeps the grey cells working, together with cross-words and Sudoku. Playing bowls with people who are younger than I also helps me to keep a sense of humour, as they quite often make fun of me (and the other older players, all of whom are mostly better players than the younger ones). I have felt quite sad, though recently, because we have been putting together a lot of our old cine/camcorder recordings for transfer to disc, and so many of our really lovely friends with whom we shared such great times are no longer with us. A life of such a variety of things done, we are both so lucky to have lived so well

I'm also a 50-something chick! smile (58)
