The arms trade

Not a chance that the UN would do such a thing. Apart from other countries, the UK, which backs arms' manufacturers with all kinds of tax and export deals, is a permanent member of the Security Council and would veto such a proposal. I can't imagine the US being in favour either.

Lots of money in arms – legal and illegal.

And the people who take no notice of the UN would still get the arms and those who respect the UN's wishes would be defenceless!

Unless you destroyed every piece of arms and armament on the planet it wouldn't work. And someone would then discover a new way of attacking/defending themselves.

Lovely idea but unworkable, I think.

Sorry, but I wish they would give the rebels in Syria some arms.

Definitely think you have to be careful who you sell them too though.

Do you agree that if the trading and manufacture of arms and armaments was banned by the UN many of the problems of the world today would be greatly diminished? And how could it be enforced?
