What do/did you call your mother?

dorset I have never felt that addressing my late parents as Mummy and Daddy was anything but normal. Whenever all the family get together, we continue to do so. As for middle class...I'm not sure that I know the meaning of the term.

Ana, i will have to look at cards in the shop now! i,m trying to remember if "mam" cards were around when my mam was still alive. i wonder why they dont make them?

Mummy till I was about twelve, then mum. My kids call me by my first name. GS calls DD Mama.

Mummy for years, like she called hers Mummy until the day she died - my mother not my grandmother who lived a further 10 years after my mother died. Then a work colleague said it sounded affected and middle class - it made me feel so sensitive about it I stopped.
Mine call me Mum, for some reason I was called Mimsel for a while during their teens. My DGDs called their mother MumMum.

I call her mam when I'm speaking to her but memam when I'm speaking about her.

Around here me and my are sometimes interchangeable. For example:

"Who's coat is this?"......."It's my coat."

"Wait, while I put me coat on."

matson, I know people who call their mothers 'mam' too - but they don't seem to sell cards with that on...

Mine was mum or muvver.....funnily enough when working with a lot of men I became muvver because was always taking in cakes etc ...have always been mummy p to all my DC. Friends and nanny p to E's friendsxx

Always Mummy and I can't change it now as she is so confused. My DS and DDiL call me by my name. The DS started it when they were little and couldn't be talked out of it. The DGS still say Granny but I notice when they are speaking about us.........

Always Mummy, why not? DS calls me Mar and DD calls me Mummy. To DGC I am Grandma or sometimes Grannima

I called my mother mummy until I was about 12 then she became mum or mumsy.
I was mummy to my girls until they were about 6/8 and now am mum, ma or mother.

To DGC I am nana as was my mum's mum to me. My dad's mum was grandma.

I call my mother mum. My sons call me mum, or ma which I quite like, but my daughters call me mummy, or mother. I like being mummy.

I call my mother Mum, or Mother when she's annoying me!

My sons call me Mummy - if they are referring to me in a conversation they'll say 'my mum'.

Mum and that what my kids called me also, seems trendy to use Mummy now??!!

Mummy until I was about 12. My DDs call me Mum although one occasionally writes to Mummy. Her children call her Mumma (but they are Australian!)

My mother was mum.
My DDs celebrate their north-eastern upbringing by calling me mam, and DS takes it one stage further by calling me muvva.

My mum was always Mum. My grown up daughters have many names for me. Mum, Muma, Ma, Mumsy,Mummy P,Mother, Old Trout and probably a few I don't want to know about.

Mummy till about 7, then mum, ditto for my own children. I'm nana to my granddaughter and step-grandmama (a family joke) to my step-grandchildren. Oh and my step daughter, we usually always call each other by first names, except when she introduces me to anyone new she will say this is my wicked step-mother and then collapse into fits of laughter!

In Lancashire, it was Mam and Dad. I have always been Mum, unless I have done something wrong, when I am 'Mother!'. I was Mummy until the girls were about six, then they must have decided it was too babyish.
I have been Nan to my ten gc, but I am Nannynoo to my great gd.

...and until his death at the age of 84, my father was Daddy.

Has been Mum since I was about 5. DH sister has always called hers Mummy n Daddy. I find it quite ironic as she is as cockney as they come and swears like a trouper, she's lovely though.
To me it's a middle class thing. Sorry no offence meant.

I called my mum, mum. My boys call me mum or ma!

Mine was always Mummy...and I'm not ashamed to say so.
