Behind all their personal vanity, women themselves always have an impersonal contempt for woman.

Can that be true?

That would be too depressing for words!!

How could he know j07? He was a man. I am amazed that you have any time for Nietzche – I should have thought he endorses many of the total opposites of what you have stated you believe. Respect for your open mind, though. smile I have to say I found him pretty much unreadable when I tried and am too old to force myself to try again. [lazy mind emoticon]

Like most sweeping statements, that one doesn't bear examination. Have I just made another? hmm

"God is a thought who makes crooked all that is straight"

Another one of his. (you lot will probably like that one! grin)

"In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play"

I SO agree with that! (so long as it includes women of course)

It's Twitter, doing this. (I'm following the Pope btw)

Bloodly Hell! J07 is now quoting Nietzsche. I can't even spell his name without copying it.
Has GM now become an obscure philosopher fest? I think I had better retreat to the fluffy kittens. grin wink

j07 I don't really know how Twitter works but I haveheard the expression "following". However, your post did conjure up a perfectly glorious image of you trailing around behind the white clad one with the silly hat, clutching a copy of Beyond Good and Evil with a number of colour coded bookmark protruding like the file at Prime Minister's Questions.

Are you following the infallible one in Latin?

j07 Sun 20-Jan-13 12:16:54

grin

Not in latin. smile

Jings When my son first went to uni' he asked me to buy him a book on Nietzsche. I browsed through it, and couldn't make head nor tail of what the chap was getting at...still totally confused

The Pope on twitter is a bit like one of those birthday books with an inspiring quote for each day. Very holy. smile

We should have a 'Thought for the Day' slot for you Jingle whilst you are in such a contemplative mood. Keep 'em coming! x
