I do too - the colours are fabulous - but once you started, where would you stop? I love my current spotty Cath K bag (pale sage green) but lust after the red version. You can't have too many bags can you?

Yes! I'm very happy with mine but it's a camel colour so I'm not using it at the moment.

Do you mean the exceedingly good cakes bags, Marelli and Ella?

Mine's a lovely purple, Ella46! I'd had it for days before I found yet another pocket.

I got one of those last summer Marelli, lots of useful pockets!

I love leather bags too, but find they are just too heavy for my shoulder/neck. I've taken a shine to the type of bag (worried about advertising) that has the little monkey on it, (which can be taken off). They're made in Belgium,are light-weight and really good quality.

I had my black leather bucket bag for years and it never dates,it does look a wee bit worn in places but I am going to polish it up after some good advice given on GN,it has served me well and I would be lost without it I am not one for buying a lot of bags I also have a over shoulder brown leather bag and a couple of good Radley bags but not too fond of those for some reason.

Leather for me too, mostly from Ebay. I'm using a bright red one to cheer up dreary winter garb.

I have the opposite problem as I don't do leather at all and find it very difficult to find bags that are well made, good quality and don't look cheap. The little shop off Hempstead Heath sounds exactly what I'm looking for gracesmum

I'm like that too, gracesmum - handbags have to be leather. I did buy a lovely one on Amazon last year reduced from £130 to £38 - you just have to keep your eye out for the bargains.

I have seen bags of this type but of course the disadvantage is that leather is relatively heavier - fill it up an you risk putting your back out or developing what my GP calls "handbag shoulder"!
I have always been a total snob about handbags - leather or nothing (apart from my Cath Kidston spotty bag) but on Friday I was in a very smart little independent shop off Hampstead Heath and admired 2 gorgeous bags in their sale, looking as if they were made of the softest leather and remarkably cheap. Sadly, they were not real (nowadays the mags call it "faux - sounds better than plastic) , but the shopowner told me that because they were so light they were very popular! Don't know if I can swallow that prejudice though unless I become sort of vegan regarding handbags

I can't stand heavy bags that weigh a ton before you've even put anything inside! So - I mostly use my very handy jute/hessian (therefore light) with pockets for purse and phone, Duchy Originals one.

Ooh, yes! Thanks to anno's timely reminder, I got myself a couple of bargains recently. New leather bags at a fraction of their price!

Its always difficult getting a balance between all the stuff one needs and ending up with too much weight to carry easily. Also I like to feel that phone/wallet etc are close enough to deter pickpockets.

The search for the perfect handbag is like the quest for the holy grail - gives life meaning and purpose!
