A lot is said about the government on the road to ruining the NHS. I have been watching, live on t.v. The Select Committee rooms. M.P's are taking evidence on nursing standards in England, 3 years after the Stafford Hospital scandal.

The Chief Nursing Officer/England, NHS Commissioning Board and the Dept of Health and Lead Nurse, Public Health England are both giving evidence. If they say things were not O.K. and much has been improved doesn't the past government have to take some responsibility for NHS failings. The problems running now are mostly connected to PFI and yet the last government are still seen as the saviour of the NHS I don't get that.

All I can say is I am glad I listened for myself to understand the problems and not had my information from the media, it's worth watching if you are interested in getting information from the horses mouth so to speak.

POGS I don't have the inside knowledge to comment but was speaking to someone who used to work in HR in the NHS and she said it is all Maggie Thatcher's fault for bringing in layers of management. When I asked her what could be done about it she said it was too late and nothing could be done. I hope that attitude is not prevalent in the NHS now.
