I have just been looking at the television and they have said if we all build a snowman we will slow down the thaw on Saturday and it will help to prevent flooding.
Shall we all go out tomorrow morning and do this.
I think we should pass the message beyond Gransnet as I think they mean evertbody in the country.

Well, Frank, you will be happy to know that we have two snowmen in our garden - the first was made a week ago when my DGS came for the day, and the second was made on Sunday when DD, DGS and my DH had a wonderful time in the garden. We live near to Glass and she is right, we could definitely make a Newcastle United team in our garden. I think we have had about a foot of snow over the last week.

Hmm...it's not quite clear how he did it though. Taking a rug for a drag?

Thanks for the link, phoenix smile

Scroll down a bit for the rug thing.

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:27:42

Apparently! I'll try to find a link, but you know what I'm like!

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 20:24:57

confused Frozen water is good for cleaning rugs??

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:22:06

Somebody in the letters page of the DT recommended snow for cleaning rugs!

merlotgran Tue 22-Jan-13 20:11:46

I think I'll call in the army. Prince Harry's not doing much at the moment. grin

glassortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 20:05:23

grin maybe tomorrow its a bit dark now! I shovelled enough off the drive today I could have started the team. wink

Notsogrand Tue 22-Jan-13 19:58:23

I've probably got enough left to make some snow millett for your budgie anno.

Movedalot Tue 22-Jan-13 19:57:28

Apparently someone has put a picture of their garden on eBay and advertised it as a snowman which will need assembling! grin

annodomini Tue 22-Jan-13 19:52:07

Don't think I could make much more than a snow budgie. grin

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:49:36

There you go then glass !

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 19:49:00

Go on then, glass! Do your bit for the environment...wink

glassortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 19:48:07

So is it a scientific fact that compressed snow ie a snowman will take longer to melt?

I could make a life size Newcastle United team from the garden we have so much snow.

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 19:48:02

Frank! grin

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 19:47:35

It would probably have to be a reclining snowman, unless someone had access to a hoist-type-thing on a tractor.

HUNTERF Tue 22-Jan-13 19:47:02

you could do what you have just said.
You will have to watch it overnight as there are carrot thieves about.

Frank

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:44:50

The add another giant snowball, some coal, a carrot...............

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 19:43:24

Yes, or just make a giant snowball - enlist the neighbours!

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:41:46

Merlot it is your civic duty grin

Or of course you could just build 1 truly humungous one, a sort of snow version of the Colussus of Rhodes......................?

HUNTERF Tue 22-Jan-13 19:40:48

Ana

If everybody built a snowman it will thaw slower so it may help to prevent flooding.

Frank

Anne58 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:40:01

Ana I think it would slow down the thawing process, as I have often seen snowmen still standing surrounded by a field of green. (A metaphorical field, it could have just been a front lawn)

merlotgran Tue 22-Jan-13 19:39:21

We have tons of snow. You're not seriously thinking I can prevent flooding by building thousands of snowmen?....Please say you're not [crying emoticon]

HUNTERF Tue 22-Jan-13 19:38:54

Hi phoenix

You can come around to my garden. I think there is enough snow for 40 snowmen.
There is one up the road and I think it is a snow women.

Frank

Ana Tue 22-Jan-13 19:36:19

Well, I'd have a job as there isn't any snow at all here! grin

Is it a proven scientific fact that building snowmen prevents flooding? confused
