Sounding off - sorry

DH is getting ready to go and see DS1 and go to a football match with him tonight. He will stay overnight and get to play with our grandsons then come home in time to take me to a concert tomorrow night. Nothing wrong with any of that but he is usually my sounding board but if I say anything he won't go.

I am so fed up with the pain from my lower back getting worse and not better. I am in a minority of one in thinking it is nothing to do with my spine but is something abdominal. If I stand up for even 15 minutes it hurts so badly and the only way to stop it is to lie down but I can't spend my life on the sofa! It sometimes even hurts just from sitting down. I don't think it is my spine as movement has no effect on it at all and I can lift heavy things without it making any difference. Being vertical is the only cause! There are no sharp pains, just acute lower back pain and what feels like period pain.

We have to drive for an hour to get to the concert tomorrow night and then I will have to get straight out of the car and into the hall and sit down immediately. I am not sure I will even be able to manage the journey there, let alone sit there all evening and then come home.

I don't want to moan to friends or family as I am such rotten company at the moment that I don't want to see anyone but I am no good at bottling things up so need to get it out somehow. Sorry to anyone who has read this far.

I have an appointment to see the doc again on Monday afternoon and the physio I know and will see privately is away until Monday so I don't think there is anything I can do but sit here feeling terrible.

Fortunately I don't have any chocolate, biscuits or anything else unhealthy in the house!

I doubt it is life threatenting and know that many of you have really terrible things to cope with but that just doesn't seem to be any consolation at the moment. So sorry, not usuually a whinger.

Think she logs off early evening, so maybe move will be back tomorrow.

Ana Wed 30-Jan-13 20:33:03

Me too - perhaps she's waiting until after the doc's appointment tomorrow so she knows exactly what's what.

Tegan Wed 30-Jan-13 20:05:18

Movedalot good to see that you have been treated with some sensitivity smile

JAB Tue 29-Jan-13 21:56:45

Movedalot so pleased you are getting the treatment from your Dr.s now it always seems to happen that 1 of the receptionists is a miserable !!! and the others O.K. always the same at our surgery too, but when you are poorly you could do without having to face a battleaxe, I'm pleased your DH was with you, I'm sure it helps, I always get silly when I go to the docs. and need my DH to keep me sensible, and not start crying, (what a wimp I am).I do hope everything will turn out o.k. for you flowers.

Only just caught up with this thread movedalot and I'm so sorry to hear what a difficult time you are having. It's good that you have such a good health care team and at last things seem to be going in the right direction. Thinking of you flowers

Ana Tue 29-Jan-13 11:54:01

That's such good news, Movedalot smile
As you say, kindness and understanding can help so much in worring situations.

Movedalot Tue 29-Jan-13 11:40:03

Thanks all of you. Going without alcohol will not be a problem.

I just want to tell you what a good experience I have had. When I left the doc yesterday I spoke to a really understanding receptionist who fitted me in for a blood test this morning when there were no spare slots.

This morning we realised I should have made an appointment to see my doc as soon as the scan had been done so asked today's receptionist but she was not so helpful and told me I had to wait until Monday. I also asked if the fax had gone to the hospital and it hadn't. DH pushed and said it was a priority and that the doc had said it would be first thing but she wouldn't budge and said it would go this morning.

When I got in to see the nurse it was very different. The doc had spoken to her about me and told her to tell me that my scan would be at 1100 tomorrow. He must have called them again after I left yesterday. What a nice man. I then asked her what I needed to do if the scan showed something nasty and told her I couldn't see my doc until Monday. She went and spoke to the Practice Manager and got me appointment for 1550 tomorrow. She was so kind and concerned and wished me luck and said she hoped it wasn't anything nasty. She was a really nice Brummie.

It makes me feel much better when so many seem to be on 'my side'

Faye Tue 29-Jan-13 10:22:40

Good luck* movedalot* glad to know things are happening for you. flowers

Marelli Tue 29-Jan-13 09:41:04

Movedalot, hope you're feeling a bit better this morning - it must have been a really miserable time for you. On the subject of other things not 'moving' - I can recommend kiwi-fruit. 2 or 3 a day will give you vitamin C and all you need to keep regular (as they used to say in the All-Bran ads)! flowers
