Good news. The ladies only classes have stopped at my leisure centre.

Myself and a few other men have complained to our local leisure centre about classes which only ladies can use.
Our argument was they were not providing men only classes and if the ladies wanted ladies only classes without equivalent men only classes the ladies which use these classes should pay extra as it is a council leisure centre for everybody to use.
They have done a survey and found that none of the ladies going to these classes were bothered about men being in them.
As far as I am concerned any ladies who want ladies only classes should go to private gyms.
The membership fees are a lot higher than the local leisure centre but that is their problem.

Hi absent

She has got to have been correct.
She was the headmistress of a school.
I don't really know if she thought she was putting me in that class as a punishment or if she expected me to be doing Bums and Tums 50 years later.
I had befriended her daughter at that point but I don't think she was sure at that time she would become my mother in law.

Who was also your mother-in-law later on. Yes, I think we have your biography straight now.

HUNTERF Sun 10-Feb-13 17:03:54

And j08

It was the headmistress of my school which sent me to do Keep Fit so it is a woman who is responsible for me being in these classes.

Hi j08.

I do not have time for reading or knitting.
I have got Bums and Tums classes to attend, dog walking, house cleaning and I spend some time on my laptop.
As soon as spring comes I have got to catch up with my garden.

I'd have thought knotting fringes would be more appropiate!

j08 Sun 10-Feb-13 15:48:23

Or read a book. Have you been on the book club thread? Do give it a look. smile

j08 Sun 10-Feb-13 15:46:38

Frank, get yourself some knitting to do.

HUNTERF Sun 10-Feb-13 15:40:13

Hi Ana

I don't think some of these classes have suddenly been hijacked.
Some of the men have been going for 20 years plus.
If you count the time I did Keep Fit at school and did classes in London I have been going for over 50 years.
How many women have been going for that time?.

Lilligran

Go out for a walk and get some exercise.

I hope anyone posting on this thread has read EVERY SINGLE previous post? I have and now I'm going to lie down for a bit in a dark room.

Ana Sun 10-Feb-13 15:33:10

You love it really, gracesmum! wink

I think Frank is trying to make the point that some women ladies in his area are absolutely thrilled that their Bums and Tums class has been hijacked by the men-in-lycra brigade! grin

HUNTERF Sun 10-Feb-13 15:32:29

Who are you trying to help Galen?.
I think most of the women in our centre are either happy with a mixed class or don't mind a mixed class.
One of the ladies has said that they had mixed classes for 4 nights a week at a previous centre and a man had been attending all 4 for about 20 years.
The centre did propose that 1 of the classes should be women only but she said a lot of the women kicked up a fuss and said why did they want to exclude him when there had been no problems for all that time.
There were only about 5 women who had been going to the class for as long as him.

I can't believe this thread has been resurrected - you just can't keep it down can you hmm

Galen Sun 10-Feb-13 15:20:03

You can't help some people[shakes head sadly]

A new lady came along to Bums and Tums this morning. At the time she arrived there were 5 men and about 10 women.
She went back to the reception to query that she had got the right place and was back shortly after.
We then told her it was a mixed class and she smiled and said jolly good.
She came in with us and was in amongst the women.
At the end she came and said that the class was more fun when there were a few men in it.
She asked the class times we were there but unfortunately 2 of the men will not be there next Sunday as they work shifts although there may be one or two others.
She said she will try to drag her husband along to the classes and she has also said her son now has a girl friend and she is going to see if his girl friend can persuade him to come along with her.
She said she would far rather have men coming to Bums and Tums and getting some exercise rather than not getting any.
