Good news. The ladies only classes have stopped at my leisure centre.

Myself and a few other men have complained to our local leisure centre about classes which only ladies can use.
Our argument was they were not providing men only classes and if the ladies wanted ladies only classes without equivalent men only classes the ladies which use these classes should pay extra as it is a council leisure centre for everybody to use.
They have done a survey and found that none of the ladies going to these classes were bothered about men being in them.
As far as I am concerned any ladies who want ladies only classes should go to private gyms.
The membership fees are a lot higher than the local leisure centre but that is their problem.

You make me sound like a total sot HUNTERF. Incidentally, while I go the gym/pool five days a week, I don't go to the pub anything like so frequently.

Hi absent

You don't get other people to buy all your drinks?.

Hi Ana

Unfortunately there are a lot of elderly people in our family who chose to live on the north side of Birmingham and have medical conditions which require treatment in hospitals on the south side.
These people can no longer drive.
They could in theory get hospital transport but this would take all day.
As ex drivers they do help out with the petrol costs and send me some money when I change the car which helps.
I also go on my holidays by car which again runs up the mileage.
I do also take my granddaughters to various appointments but I think it would be almost impossible to get money from them.
In some cases I think it would be cheaper for the elderly relatives to get a taxi but they prefer to have a relative with them especially when forms are being filled in.
I tend to jog their memory when they are asked about past medical history.

HUNTERF Only if you're buying the drinks. wink

janthea Depends how often you go and, of course, the membership fee. Going five days a week and with off-peak membership (i.e. 9–5 weekdays only) works out at just over £1 per session for both gym and pool.

Ana Wed 20-Feb-13 10:18:54

And you must spend a fortune on petrol, Frank, all that driving you do...

janthea Wed 20-Feb-13 10:16:55

Surely a gym is more expensive than a drink in the pub!

HUNTERF Wed 20-Feb-13 09:45:53

Hi absent

You have to be rich to go to the pub these days.

Frank

I go to the pub to socialise. I go to the gym and the pool to exercise.

HUNTERF Wed 20-Feb-13 08:48:15

Hi absent

You could still go.
There are very thin ladies there. I think they partly go to socialise.

I am 5 feet 9 inches tall and wear size 8 jeans – I don't need to. grin

Hi absent

Why don't you go along to a bums and tums class and find out?.

Frank

Now I think about it, I have absolutely no idea what sort of activity takes place in a bums and tums class. It sounds deadly boring.

HUNTERF Tue 19-Feb-13 20:49:04

A new lady joined the Bums and Tums class tonight from another area.
She said that I was the first man she had seen in a Bums and Tums class and I think she was a little more astonished when 3 more arrived.
At the end she said that she thinks men should do things like aerobics or that type of activity.
She said she will certainly be coming again.

Ana Tue 19-Feb-13 20:11:39

Like you have, Galen? grin

Galen Tue 19-Feb-13 19:49:38

Good girl. Now practice it for an hour a day and gradually work up til you have cured this addiction!

Oldgreymare Tue 19-Feb-13 19:02:16

Galen Thanks, yes, to an extent! Which means I slobbed a bit a worked a bit!!! At least I kept away from the 'Bums and Tums'.

annodomini Mon 18-Feb-13 11:59:19

Please would you tell me the same, Galen?

Galen Mon 18-Feb-13 11:11:41

OGM go and do something useful.
There I've told you!
Did it work?

HUNTERF Mon 18-Feb-13 10:38:06

It was the first time I had met him and his wife told him I went to her Bums and Tums class and he then said he had tried Bums and Tums in the past.

Oldgreymare Mon 18-Feb-13 10:37:40

Morning Galen.... tell me to go and do something useful, please smile

Oldgreymare Mon 18-Feb-13 10:36:02

I think I walked straight into that one DUH!
Think I'll join the 'Art digression':
My 'dislike' of the moment is Edward Burra, described in the Observer as:
'unconventional and uncategorisable, no-one seemed to know what to do with him.... mischievous and eccentric......'
hmm

Galen Mon 18-Feb-13 10:32:03

Are you going around accosting strange men and trying to recruit them to the bums and tums?

HUNTERF Mon 18-Feb-13 10:26:24

Hi Oldgreymare

I forgot to say that she said it might be nice if 2 or 3 families went together to a bluebell walk later in the year.
Her husband agreed and said they will look in to it and will be in contact.
Obviously it will depend on date etc but I have to agree.
He said he tried Bums and Tums a few years ago and decided it did not suit him and is more into walking, running and circuit training but he said that there was nothing wrong with a man going to a Bums and Tums class if it suited him.
As he said no exercise is good if you do not keep it up.

WOW! Frank greeted by a 'woman', you usually meet 'ladies'!
Glad you enjoyed the snowdrops, they are so uplifting at this time of year.
