But didn't the snow cover some messy gardens(I'm talking about mine) bulbs are well on their way the daft b.....s they'll get their comeuppance by the snow at the beginning of the summer term(there's always snow then somewhere in Co Durham then)

Springtime not too far away...the time for Rory, the feral cat, to be prepared to visit the vet for "the snip" draws ever closer...

I was about to contact the nice man from the cat protection league [to ask for assistance] when Mr soop informs me that Rory is no longer a feral cat because he has been adopted by us. Therefore, in Mr soop's own words -"We shall take him to the vet and pay for his op. He's no longer just any old cat - he's special!" We've purchased a strong cat carrier on-line. When it arrives, we intend placing his fleece inside and, over a period of time, getting Rory used to sitting in it. Then, we shall hope to be able to close the door and take him to the vet. Thus saving him from being trapped in a wire cage...

Mr soop can be so tender-hearted. smile

Hmm...good luck with that, soop! grin

I, boringly, post this every year wherever I can:

"Daffodils that come before the swallow dares
And fill the winds of March with beauty."

("Wninter's Tale")

Ariadne Sat 02-Feb-13 10:51:07

Or even "Winter's" blush

Yeah, the snow covered my messy garden, but I was brave enough to take a picture on Tuesday when I went to the first meeting of a U3A garden group here!
A pot of daffs and crocus in the front are 2" high, get the first sun in the morning.

? Why is my cursor misbehaving on here?? It doens't seem to register in the right place!

jeni Sat 02-Feb-13 13:37:48

I've just got 4 longtailed tits on feeder in front of my window!
They're distracting me from my files, but lovelysmile

annodomini Sat 02-Feb-13 14:13:11

soop, do you really think Rory will fall for that? Cats can read your mind, you know. grin

AlieOxon Sat 02-Feb-13 14:18:47

jeni Sat 02-Feb-13 14:24:19

anno...hmm I spoke with the cat rescue man this morning. It was he who supplied the trap for Rory's wifelet and kitts [about a year ago?] He was kind enough to "house" them for three days after surgery. He then brought them back to us and we watched them scamper into the forest. They still call on us for a meal at dusk. Cat man thinks that Rory is remarkable. He was impressed with his transition from wild and positively fierce, to a cat loving living indoors and all that...
The roomy cat carrier is in transit. The plan is to tempt him inside with his favourite dish...diced chicken. After a week or so, we hope that he'll be comfortable with the routine. It will then be the right time to close the door and whisk him away to the vet. He can return the same day. smile
Now, if our plan fails, we shall contact the cat man and he'll deliver the trap. Rory HATES the trap and will do anything to avoid approaching it. Our plan cannot fail. Any day soon, Rory will be off on marathon walkabouts looking for a willing female. There are far too many feral cats in this area. Wouldn't mind betting that Rory is father to many.

Best of luck. To misquote Burns ' the best laid plans'!

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 17:11:15

Rory is clearly a cat who knows on which side he bread is buttered. grin

soop Mon 04-Feb-13 13:53:55

Rory follows Mr soop around the garden every morning. If he comes indoors with wet fur, he sits at Mr soop's feet until he's been dried with kitchen towel. hmm grin

That cat knows how to get what he wants! You have to admire him! smile
