Bumped into Mr Bags by the milk jug, so to speak (Hi, Honey). He had a mug full of black coffee in his hand, I had an empty mug in mine. I warm my coffee milk in the microwave and then add the coffee. He pours the coffee in first and then adds cold milk.

You?

Cooo Bags, thought I was the only one who did this with coffee.

But for tea I'm a tea pot person. Then a splash of skimmed milk goes in after I've poured the tea. Including Earl grey!!!! shock horror.

Had camomile tea once.......was sick for a week so really can't stand the thought of it!

Found the breast milk story here

Don't care whether coffee is "real" or not - its the caffeine I'm after!!

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 14:50:54

absent, I did hear that one. It wasn't April 1st was it?
My mother once expressed breast milk when she was feeding my young sister, left it in a saucer on the kitchen table, turned her back on it and the cat got the lot.

An Indian (Darjeeling-raised) woman of my acquaintance offered us cream in our Darjeeling tea after dinner at her house. We politely (we hope!) declined and asked for milk. This was in the days before skinny milk had been invented.

anno Did you read about that move to sell ice cream made from human breast milk some time last year? I think the shop concerned was Selfridges but I am not sure. It caused quite a furore with loads of people registering disgust. Even Lady Gaga got involved because the brand was called Gaga as in baby noises.

annodomini Sun 03-Feb-13 14:21:03

Ceylon for breakfast; Earl Grey for afternoon tea. No milk at any time. My dad used to refer to it as 'the natural food of baby cows.' Which it is. grin

Tea? Never, can't stand the smell, yuk!

Fruit infusions yes, sometimes with added lemon slice

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:58:02

I know people that do! I don't really speak to them, just sort of glance askance and mumble!

absent Sun 03-Feb-13 13:44:08

Surely no one would put milk into Earl Grey tea – it would be disgusting. I don't even add lemon.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:42:10

With milk or lemon? If I drink earl grey, (an event about as rare as the possibility of being kicked to death by a horse in boer war) it HAS to be lemon.

gracesmum Sun 03-Feb-13 13:41:59

Only ever hot milk in coffee.

And if tea, milk in second.

absent Sun 03-Feb-13 13:40:11

Orange pekoe every time for morning tea and Earl Grey for the afternoon.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:40:10

Like my twinnings herbal teas as well.

jeni Sun 03-Feb-13 13:39:27

Just been stripping down my machine and refilling the beans (guatamalen elephant this time)

feetlebaum Sun 03-Feb-13 13:38:26

Colombian beans, fresh ground, and filtered. NO MILK!

Tea - loose Assam - teapot.......... NO MILK!

Fussy bugger, ain't I?

grannyactivist Sun 03-Feb-13 13:37:08

Warm milk and real coffee for me.
Bags I had to smile at the mention of you 'bumping into' Mr. Bags over the milk jug. My husband has been working extremely long hours for so long now that I tend to be genuinely surprised when I come across him indoors. He's a mid level civil servant who used to be one of a seven strong team and there are now one and a half people to tackle an ever increasing workload. If I need to have a decent conversation with him I have to make an appointment, but grabbing a quick hug when we meet in the kitchen is one of the joys of my day. smile

Sorry about your palpitations, harri. I am really glad I don't have them!

Bags Sun 03-Feb-13 13:06:36

absent, if we ever have any instant coffee in the house, ever, I might approach it with that thought in mind.

Or I might just drink tea instead.

harrigran Sun 03-Feb-13 12:46:23

Instant doesn't cause as many palpitations as real.

Movedalot Sun 03-Feb-13 12:44:55

Any kind of coffee will do me, just bring it on grin

absent Sun 03-Feb-13 12:43:53

I think instant coffee is just about drinkable as long as you think of it as a hot beverage rather than as coffee.

Bags Sun 03-Feb-13 12:42:29

Add me to the fussy list, absent!

moved, like it! grin

harrigran Sun 03-Feb-13 12:39:45

Cold milk after the coffee. I prefer instant hmm

absent Sun 03-Feb-13 12:39:09

I hate the smell of hot milk. I add cold milk to mine or drink it without milk. I don't mind hot milk in my coffee if it is served that way (i.e. I don't have to smell the milk when it's just been heated.) The quality of the coffee and the way it has been made are the most important things and I am boringly fussy about them.
