Going by logic I would have thought Chinese New Year would have been a good time for business at Chinese Restaurants.

Chinese New Year is the only time that Chinese people ever have a holiday. It's very important to them to be with their families at that time.

HunterChinese families are the hardest working families that I know and they all work to at least one time during their life time visit China for New Year celebrations as many are born here in this country now and they are very interested in their roots and culture,families save for years to do this so what is your problem with that ?? I know this as my future DIL is Chinese and she has never been to China to where her family orginate from but my DS1 is looking forward to when they can visit in years to come,and just to give you some notice my catering business will be closed for the last two weeks in September in case it may inconvienence you.

Went down the barbican in Plymouth once for lunch when we were moored in Queen Anne battery, the Chinese restaurant had a sign up saying ' closed for lunch!' [crunch]

Maybe it depends on the level of Chinese population of an area? In London, Soho's Chinatown was gearing up for some serious celebrations when I passed last Saturday. Those restaurants won't be closing- they will be going like the proverbail fair!

You can get a good take-away from the store previously famous for its underwear (no advertising) and a bottle of wine, I believe. They'll be open!

gracesmum and very good it is to,the is not bad at all,we had some this week in place of the normal "dine in for two" offer.

My son picked up a Tesco Chinese meal offer on his way here yesterday. Ken Hom recipes - 2 mains and 2 sides for £5. He got red thai curry with sticky rice £3.50, sticky BBQ ribs £3.50, egg fried rice £3, and vegetable spring rolls £3. More than planty for 2 people and it was delicious. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
