Snowing here and interesting getting home. The bank manager agreed I was alive and signed the form saying so. In a fit of excitement at being certified alive I booked accommodation for a few days in Palermo on the phone and bought some Turkish delight. Also changed our car insurance from saga and saved £40.

AllieOxon I first tasted Homity Pie whilst visiting Bakewell in Derbyshire, then more recently on a visit to Stafford. It really is delicious smile. I use a Cranks recipe to make mine. Hope you come across the right cheese for you soon.

Lunching in a restaurant, we looked out at a blizzard! The snow wasn't settling and has now changed to rain - cold rain.

Forzanonna Wed 13-Feb-13 15:30:30

Snow here has turned to rain - not nearly so pretty, but much easier to go out in.

Good afternoon, from a snow free, so far, but very windy and bitterly cold Lincolnshire.
Forbesisnow2, good for you getting a rescue cat. Our Mia was a rescue cat, nearly 4 months ago, she was extremely timid and nervous for the first few days, then settled in nicely.

At least 6" of snow here already and still snowing. So glad we came home from our short break at totally gorgeous barn conversion in North Fife yesterday. OTOH if we were still there we would be snowed in and 'forced' to stay which would have been no hardship grin Have decided to abandon local search for Knight themed bedding for DGS's 6th birthday tomorrow and simply order on-line for delivery to his home, will instead concentrate on constructing two medievel [sp?] towers, one sweet, one savoury, for tomorrow's Knight themed party buffet hmm

We have the most snow we've had all winter. Now I'm back home it looks lovely. It didn't look so nice when I had to drive in it.

annodomini Wed 13-Feb-13 09:59:05

We're having those little mini snowflakes that don't give much coverage, so it isn't even pretty!

Anne58 Wed 13-Feb-13 09:49:05

Morning all, grey skies and heavy rain here in North Devon. I was going to mop all the downstairs floors, but think I will just sweep imstead!

Forzanonna Wed 13-Feb-13 09:42:55

Good morning everyone, snow falling softly here in Inverness, very cold too.
Off to stitch and bitch this morning, then to lunch with a friend. I will take her shopping after which we have great excitment as we are picking up our rescue cat from the SSPCA. Very nervous and not sure what to expect.
Any advice. sunshine

It is raining hard...again.

Marelli Wed 13-Feb-13 09:11:31

Snow falling steadily and prettily. Hospital visiting this afternoon, so it could be a case of hiking boots here too.

AlieOxon Wed 13-Feb-13 09:07:04

Homity Pie (I had to look it up!) sounds like something I should remember, but I don't. If I ever find a substitute for cow milk cheese I will make it.....so far I don't like goat or sheep cheese much!

Sook Wed 13-Feb-13 08:58:16

Good morning everyone smile It's bitterly cold here in Cheshire, snow forecast for later. DH has a fasting blood test this morning and then we are off to pick up GC. A bit later this morning as DS2 is off work due to shingles, which seem to be confined to his face and scalp. So will take him a homemade Homity Pie for his lunch to cheer him up.

I had a similarly sceptical reaction when I offered to make a Toby the tram engine cake. DD was very "Oh don't worry mum...."
So I made it and da*n good it was too, I think I posted a pic at the time. Admired by all and done with granny love plus the determination to prove her wrong!!!

Galen Wed 13-Feb-13 08:51:46

Rain, off to work. I've switched the stroganoff on this time!

Nelliemoser Wed 13-Feb-13 08:51:33

AlieOxon Wed 13-Feb-13 08:49:40

Morning all. No snow here in Oxon, just cold, I think.

Going shopping in Oxford, birthday cards for grandson and a cake....I offered to make one, but no...daughter prefers to spend money.
I am to make a big flapjack instead. Will decorate it with stars.

We are not taking the grandson, he is bored shopping and on Monday was a sulky little *. However, he came and apologised, after we walked away....

Gally Wed 13-Feb-13 08:48:13

Ta da!! First snow of the year softly drifting in a downwards direction. Typical: today I am going to a neighbour's 80th Birthday party at Harvey Nicks in Edinburgh. Cancel the taxi and order a sleigh I think.

gracesmum Wed 13-Feb-13 08:43:44

Good morning! DH well enough (my diagnosis) after Monday's fevers etc to be left this morning so that I can go to my Lit class - hurray!
OH dear - does that sound ungracious? Tough love smile

whenim64 Wed 13-Feb-13 08:29:30

Snap Ella I am the other side of the airport to you. grin

whenim64 Wed 13-Feb-13 08:28:25

Morning peeps! The snow is starting here in south Manchester. I am staying put today, to just potter, do a little dusting and watch my garden turn white. I do like lazy days grin
