Far be it for me to ever agree with Lord Tebbit but he has a point when he says that the Mid-Staffs scandal was a travesty but is a symptom of a wider malaise in today's society.
He points out that the bankers (and their auditors), the police, BBC, politicians, etc have all been guilty of incompetence and irresponsibility, so why be surprised at the NHS failings.
