Does anyone else find the one liners preceded by # with words running together that some posters use annoying? I believe it has its origins in twitter, but as this isn't twitter .......

On my first day in a new job, the boss had written COP across many of the documents she passed to me. Didn't have a clue what that meant so I made a folder and put them all in there. It was only when she asked where all the work was that had to be dealt with by 'close of play' that the penny dropped. #stupidwoman.

If we are going to do hashtag comments they're meant to be brief. #justsaying. smile

I once had a similar experience to Frank. I was at a meeting in a London hotel organised by a client, the BW shipping group. I wandered in, drank their coffee and sat down to listen to the introduction. Bit mystified that they were talking about canals. The Manchester ship canal perhaps? The Panama? But the Grand Union surely is not big enough for container ships.
Realised I was in the British Waterways meeting by mistake.

I totally agree with gracesmum. I think whoever started this must be absolutely brilliant and should be given a Gransnet Secial Award. At the next Oscars ceremony. And she should have Colin Morgan and Bradley James accompanying her at said ceremony. And the aisle should be lined with the knights from Merlin................. #dreamonbaby. #sigh

Are we being a bit intolerant and dismissive here? The # seems a bit of harmless fun and Frank's confusion over acronyms very understandable. How many people (apart from DC )used to think LOL meant Lots of Love until their offspring, with "Honestly Mother" curled up lip enlightened them? No? Just me then.

If there is one thing I can't cope with its no spaces between words! or paragraphs or similar. Too much like hard work.

feetlebaum Sun 17-Feb-13 09:59:37

It didn't seem too far off-topic to me - the confusion caused by fooling around with these various kinds of communication.

I can't be doing with twitter, but can just about stomach FaceBook in small doses. 140 characters is way too many sometimes - "Just been to the lavatory" - that sort of thing...

dorsetpennt Sun 17-Feb-13 09:47:17

sorry type I meant ' go off on a tangent'

dorsetpennt Sun 17-Feb-13 09:46:23

Sorry Frank what on earth has your CIB thing to do with the subject in hand ? agapanthus was talking about all these letters running together not acronyms like CIB. I know that people run of on a tangent in these threads but this is out of nowhere.
