Help!
I've just opened and drained a can of cherries instead of kidney beans.
I've put them in the fridge for tonight , but what can I do with them?

Ideas please.
Preferably not too high in calories!

Grilling? Chilli!

Wow I need more tins of cherries for all these ideas.
I can't remember why I bought them? I've had them in for so long I didn't know I'd got them. I grabbed them thinking they were kidney beans for the grilling con carne I was makingconfused
I'm obviously getting (more) senile!

Freeze them until you need them. You bought them so must have had a later use for them in mind.

grannyeggs, clafoutis - yummeeeee!

Or, mix with cherry yogurt and dark chocolate drops. Top with a layer of Brown sugar and leave in the fridge until the sugar has 'melted'. It's called Daisy's Piggin' Pudding at our house confused

I have heated cherries with a good slug of brandy, popped them into brandy snap baskets and added ice cream of choice.

Heat them up and pile them on a freshly toasted waffle with the best vanilla ice cream.

Years ago we had venison cooked with cherries which was really nice. To be honest I could just sit and eat them out of the tin smile

Low fat ice cream is a contradiction in terms - and an affront to gastronomy.

Grannyeggs Fri 22-Feb-13 22:40:51

Clafoutis, make a sweet batter, it's like toad in the hole with cherries, yumm

merlotgran Fri 22-Feb-13 22:25:43

Low fat ice cream, of course. grin

Don't forget the Kirsch.

Galen Fri 22-Feb-13 22:21:34

They have to be CREPES suzette!

Galen Fri 22-Feb-13 22:20:37

Higgins!!!

Galen Fri 22-Feb-13 22:20:20

Whey hey! I tell you that she's got it she's got she's got it!
(Sorry, prof Higgind)

Make pancakes. Jubilee cherries and ice cream. Yum!

elegran a pousin is too much for me! A whole duck?shock
I think I'll take Ana's advice. (Wont do much for my silk pillow slip or silver hair though)

Ana Fri 22-Feb-13 22:00:42

Sleep on it, Galen. The answer may come to you in a dream...

annodomini Fri 22-Feb-13 21:59:43

Make a very retro Black Forest Gateau. wink

j08 Fri 22-Feb-13 21:59:28

If it was the bitter sort, she could eat them now to make her sleep.

Allegedly.

Galen Fri 22-Feb-13 21:58:57

Anait is to me. I'm a culinary obsessive!

Elegran Fri 22-Feb-13 21:57:39

Get a duck. Have duck with cherries. I think it is meant to be the bitter sort, not the sweet ones, but you could set a trend.

Ana Fri 22-Feb-13 21:56:54

Ah, I see! But surely opening a can of cherries by mistake isn't a culinary emergency? grin

Galen Fri 22-Feb-13 21:55:18

I was, but I was just putting on my chilli con carne in the slow cooker for tomorrow!
Good job I didn't empty the tin in without double checking. I dread to think what that would have tasted like?
Mind you, if the morrocan s put apricots with lamb, why shouldn't I put cherries with beef?confused

j08 Fri 22-Feb-13 21:53:54

Make a trifle. Go the whole hog - sponge cakes, booze, cherries, custard, double cream (whipped)

That won't fatten you.

j08 Fri 22-Feb-13 21:51:53

Yes well! You did say low calorie. #simpleisbest

Ana Fri 22-Feb-13 21:50:07

Thought you'd gone to bed, Galen! grin
