I just read this story and thought to myself, what an inspirational woman Patricia Machin is!

Who or what has inspired you in some way?

Lot's of things inspire me all the time. I couldn't pick out one. This story is indeed a good one though. I wonder how the young man is getting on?

Nice to see the press trying to redress the balance - many factions of it seem intent on encouraging people to see revenge and reparation. Corrosive in our society I think.
Admirable is how I would describe her. Inspiration is something that comes from inside someone not outside.

I saw her on Breakfast and thought she was absolutely wonderful. She spoke so movingly of her love for and very happy thirteen years with her husband but was so generous about the driver. I think I've read that he is working abroad.

An uplifting article about a good and generous woman. I hadn't been aware of this story, so thanks, ga.

Inspiration comes in so many forms, I'd be hard pressed to chose any kind over another, but there's no doubt that the love of a good man goes a long way with me. smile

I think the word is getting a bit over used these days. the M and S feedback questionnaire asks if you find the window displays inspirational. hmm

I don't honestly see how she could do otherwise than forgive the motorist involved. He did n' t set out to kill anyone. It was a lapse of concentration. It could happen to any motorist in given circumstances. If she is a driver it could
Happen to her.

I doubt that it would have been so easy for the widow of the elderly bell ringer who was set upon and murdered on his way to church on Christmas Eve, for example.

M and S want you to be inspired to buy their stuff.

I think that acceptance that 'accidents' happen is healthy. If I lost a loved one through a genuine accident I hope I could be as generous. If someone set out to purposefully harm someone I would want that person out of circulation. I hope, for my own peace of mind, I would not become vengeful and bitter as I would become a victim too. She is a good woman indeed.
