Been using my inherited chef for a while and really like it. No manual, no attachments. Does anyone know what the red lever is for and what if anything is behind the front name plate? Thanks in advance
Ps had posted this in food but looks like chat gets more visitors.

storynanny you can get a download of the manual click here
Or you may find a free one by Googling some more. I used to have a similar mixer but can't remember much about its workings. Hope you find what you need.

Is the red button the Mary Berry/Paul Hollywood bell push- the one you press and they appear by magic to sort out your soggy bottom?grin

I've got a Kenwood Chef 901 which I was given for a wedding present way back in 1967 and it's still in frequent use.

According to my manual the red knob is called the "slow speed attachment locking catch" and when you move it to the right it releases the "slow speed outlet cover".

You can get various attachments that go into this outlet and they are listed in my book as a coffee grinder, mincer, slicer & shredder, cream maker, bean slicer and can opener.

You can still buy the various attachments on eBay if you fancy anything. There is also a cover on the top at the back of the mixer which flips off to give access to the "high speed outlet cover". Onto this you could attach a juice extractor, liquidiser, high speed slicer & shredder and potato peeler.

The instruction manual shows all the various attachments but is more than half full of recipes as well. If you need any of the instructions or diagrams just let me know and I can scan and email them to you

Yogagran, thank you so much. I have found the link for the manual, downloaded it to my iPad, read half of it and it just disappeared! Can't retrieve it from the kenwood site I bought the download from either. Would you be able to scan and email me the page which tells you how to adjust a screw which makes the beater go right to the edge/bottom of the bowl? That was the page I was trying to read when I lost it. I'm not I tending to get any of the attachments though as I have lots of other gadgets already. Thank you so much.
Ps have no idea how you email people on gransnet.

storynanny, to send a message to someone click on 'private message' on the strip which shows their user name above a post. It takes a while to notice all the little options on Gransnet. The best discovery I made was the bookmark function (click on customize at top of a thread), it saves so much time trying to find where you left off.
